Easiest way is simply to go into the events log via control panel ->system-> device manager->events - there's usually a &VEN plus a whole string of characters -- google that for the actual device / hardware name (which is what some of those "Driver updaters" etc do anyway and download the usually FREE driver from the hardware site.

NEVER EVER pay those sites that offer to "Update drivers" - while offering to find them -- and then come up with "You need to Go Pro" -- i.e PAY to access that bit of their website for stuff that's available FOR FREE on the internet).

E.G to get details of a Lan adapter in a mini Pc I'd just bought

What???? What are you talking about. Driver Store Explorer doesn't do any of that. Read the first post. It lets you delete obsolete drivers from the Windows driver store, save all drivers from the windows driver store into a folder, and restore a driver from the saved driver folder. It is a free utility developed by the community and there is no paid versions or no driver download offerings.

Overview​

Driver Store Explorer [RAPR] makes it easier to deal with Windows driver store. Supported operations include list/add/install/delete/export third-party driver packages.


Features​

  • Support online (local machine) and offline driver store.
  • Enumerate / list all third-party driver packages in the driver store. Showing device associated with drivers. Export the driver package list as CSV.
  • Add a driver package to the driver store.
  • Delete one or multiple driver packages from the store.
  • Detect old and not used driver packages (best effort).
  • Export all / selected driver packages.

It's a tool many of us here have been using for a while now. It has nothing to do with paying for jack, nor does it have anything to do with 'finding' new drivers.

I sometimes use it to find new drivers on my computers after I forgot which computer it was that I had already installed the new drivers on. It finds the new drivers immediately every time! 😛
