Hi,

You are in the wrong thread.

You have an ASUS ROG SS3 motherboard, so :

You need Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (Intel 2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx & AMD 3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx).

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

You cannot choose a drivers package type, each drivers package type is dedicated to each motherboards type.

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC40xx codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.

Note : If you don't want DTS Sound Unbound, just don't install it.

I was wondering if it is possible to only install the Realtek driver and none of the A-Volute or Nahimic stuff that comes along with it? It is notorious for reinstalling itself and causing problems. Thanks!

Hi,

To get rid of SS3 app/drivers :

Delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_USB_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.3.9600.xxxx\Drivers\USBAud\Win64\ThirdParty folder then follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process (without installing SS3 apps).

For the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow the UPDATE process (always after having delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_USB_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.3.9600.xxxx\Drivers\USBAud\Win64\ThirdParty folder).

Would it make more sense to edit your Install.cmd file and remove......or would this cause problems?

Curious if Windows Update will try to install them regardless?

The result is the same one way or another, either way I don't recommend get rid of SS3 drivers since you will lose the hardware audio processing performed by the SS3 APO (which avoids CPU resource hogging for audio processing) and the loss of your equalizer (since your equalizer is based on SS3 APO Drivers).

So if you have noticed issues which the root cause is that SS3 drivers (of which A-Volute/Nahimic stuff) interfering with some of your games/apps, first try to disable SS3 effects, if issues persists, uninstall SS3 app, if issues still persists, there you can go get rid of SS3 drivers as explained previously (it's at your own risk and I won't provide any support).

Thanks for the detailed information. I have found Nahimic/A-Volute to be a resource hog and has caused problems with some of the professional audio software I use (Cubase, Pro Tools). I wasn't aware that it is required to get full functionality of the onboard sound card on my motherboard.

Appreciate your time and all that you do MoKiChU :-)
