Solved Dual Monitor on GPU and IGPU

Ok so, i'm trying to run a Dual-Monitor Setup. . My Main Monitor is 1920 X 1080. . Perfectly, but when I go and install the Drivers to the Integrated GPU (also AMD), it deletes the other Drivers, and vice versa. How can I get AMD Software to detect both and install BOTH graphic drivers? My 2nd monitor won't display 1920 X 1080. And the reason I'm having to do it this way, is because I'm waiting on a Display to DVI Adapter. My GPU only has DVI and DisplayPort. The Integrated has HDMI, DVI and VGA. I have no idea when my adapter will come in. So any ideas?

Might just be easier to wait on the DP to DVI Adapter and use that for the main Monitor, and then use a DVI to VGA Adapter for the 2nd monitor.

MY advice would be to not mess with adapters, especially on the digital connection. Instead, use DP to DVI cable instead.

The DP to DVI adapter works perfectly, but the DVI to VGA adapter that I had doesn't seem to work at all. Settings does show that Monitor 2 is connected, but the desktop won't show up. So, it's probably the adapter. Right now i'm just stuck with 1 monitor on that computer atm.

This may cause your problem, but a passive DVI to VGA adapter only works with a DVI port that is not DVI-D. VGA is analog, ad DVI-D is digital only.

A quick Web search doesn't tell me what type of DVI port is present on the R7 350X.

I was able to come up with the money to purchase both cords above. . . . . So, now I shouldn't have a problem with the DVI to VGA

Here's the picture of the adapter. Could be a bad adapter but as @glasskuter said above, using adapters for such isn't a good idea, and I agree with her.

That appears to be a VGA (male) to DVI (female) adapter. Is that correct?

That would only work with a monitor that can use an analog DVI input. I believe that most (all?) monitor DVI inputs are digital only.

What interfaces do your monitors require?

If you can drive both monitors off your discrete graphics card, that may be simplest.

At least one of the adapter should be an active adapter. Probably why your existing adapter does not work. It needs an integrated chipset for conversion.

There seems to some confusion here. Is the DVI connector on the AMD Radeon R7 350x a DVI-I or DVI-D one? Is is important to know.

There is absolutely no problem using a standard DVD-I to VGA adapter. Just note it is only for use with a video card with a DVD-I connector.

A DVI-I connector supports both digital and analog video.

To connect it to a monitor with a DVI-D connector just use a DVI cable.
To it connect to a monitor with a VGA connector all you need is a DVI-I to VGA adapter and then use a VGA cable to connect that to the monitor.

A DVI-D connector supports digital only. You can only use it to connect it to a monitor with a DVI-D connector using a DVI cable.

A DVI-I port has pins for both digital and analog video. A DVI to VGA adapter does no conversion at all. All it does is connect the analog pins on the DVI-I port to the relevant pins on the VGA connector.

My older video cards had DVD-I connectors on them. Some even included a DVI-I to VGA adapter so that the DVD-I port could be connected to a monitor with a VGA connector. I have used these adapters with no problem for over 10 years.

I should note that they do make DVD-D to VGA adapters. This is quite different because it has internal electronic components to convert the digital video to analog video. I would never use one of them because some of the reviews say they the cheaper ones are not reliable.

As I mentioned above (post 11), the OP has pictured a VGA (male) to DVI (female) adapter. Here's an example. The one that you describe (DVI-I male to VGA female) is the type that's familiar to me.

Not at all useful if the monitor only has a digital DVI input.

If VGA (male) to DVI-D (female) active adapters exist, a quick Web search didn't find one.

I asked for more specific info about what monitor inputs are required, but no response so far.

To show the difference in how the DVI-I pins are used here are two adapters I have.

For the DVI-I to VGA adapter note how the appropriate analog pins are connected on the DVI-I connector. Note the DVI port must be DVI-I
since a DVI-D port does not support analog.

For the DVI to HDMI adapter note how the appropriate digital pins are connected on the DVI connector. Note the DVI port could be either a DVI-I or DVI-D since they both support digital. Note DVI and HDMI are electrically the same so no conversion is needed. Only the proper pins need to be connected to the connectors on each side. The biggest difference is that DVI does not support audio so if audio is needed a separate cable is needed.

That picture looked strange to me also since DVI-I (male) to VGA (female) is the standard adapter. With this adapter you can use a standard VGA (male) to VGA (male) video cable to connect to the monitor. Like I implied this standar adapter is passive since a DVI-I to VGA adapter has no internal electronic components.

An adapter with a VGA (male) connector should work but not with a standard VGA (male) to VGA (male) cable cable. However, you could use it with a VGA (female) to VGA (male) cable. This type of cable is use to extend a standard VGA cable if it is not long enough. It works this way:
[VGA (male) to VGA (male)] cable to [VGA (female) to VGA (male)] cable. In effect you still have VGA (male) connectors at both ends.

Here is an example of an DVI-D to VGA adapter. It is an active adapter since it contains internal electronic components. Like I said I don't recommend this type of adapter because I have seen people sometimes have problems making them work reliability.

You ordered two passive adapters? The DVI-VGA should be active.

That DVI-I (male) to VGA (male) cable should work if it is long enough. If it is not long enough then to extend it you will have to use a VGA (female) to VGA (male) video extension cable.

Your cable will work the same as using a DVI-I (male) to VGA (female) adapter with a standard VGA (male) to VGA (male) video cable. The advantage of using the adapter is that you can use it with any standard VGA video cable.
