Solved Dual Monitor on GPU and IGPU

That DVI-I (male) to VGA (male) cable should work if it is long enough. If it is not long enough then to extend it you will have to use a VGA (female) to VGA (male) video extension cable.

Your cable will work the same as using a DVI-I (male) to VGA (female) adapter with a standard VGA (male) to VGA (male) video cable. The advantage of using the adapter is that you can use it with any standard VGA video cable.

Here's a picture of both monitors, and my exact GPU card. . Arrows and description are for the cables that I ordered above. So, both of those should work for a Dual Monitor setup like i'm trying to get?

You ordered two passive adapters? The DVI-VGA should be active.
I disagree. For a DVI-I port you can use a passive DVI-I to VGA cable or adapter.

Read my other posts to see the difference between a DVI-I to VGA adapter and a DVI-D to VGA adapter. One is passive while the other is active.

Of course the photo the OP posted shows his video card having a DVI-I connector. If it is truly a DVI-I connector then it natively supports VGA and can use a passive adapter. However, if the port is really a DVI-D one then it doesn't natively supports VGA and requires an active adapter.

Once the OP gets the cable he will be able to verify if the video card really has a DVI-I port.

I have four video cards with DVD-I ports they all come with passive DVI-I to VGA adapters.
  • PNY VCGFX59APB (Geforce FX 5900)
  • PNY VCG62256APB (GeForce 6200)
  • ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 (GeForce GTX 560)
  • ASUS ENGTS250 DK/HTDI/1GD3 (GeForce GTS 250)
Here is a photo I just took of one of my DVI-I to VGA adapters. It is a passive adapter.

DVI-I to VGA Adapter.jpg

If you need to be convinced please read this reference. It verifies what I said.

In addition to digital, some DVI connectors also have pins that pass an analog signal, which can be used to connect an analog monitor. The analog pins are the four that surround the flat blade on a DVI-I or DVI-A connector. A VGA monitor, for example, can be connected to a video source with DVI-I through the use of a passive adapter. Since the analog pins are directly compatible with VGA signaling, passive adapters are simple and cheap to produce, providing a cost-effective solution to support VGA on DVI.

The OP and I already discussed this (via PM). I already told him that there is a possibility that the cable he purchased will work even though it is passive. It is just a waiting game right now till he receives the cable adapter..

That is a DVI-I port, as you say. It has the analog signal lines.

An inexpensive, passive DVI to VGA adapter (or DVI to VGA cable) will work with it.
I ordered a DVI to VGA cable
