W11 Home 64-bit
I just upgraded to W11 in my newly acquired W10 certified HP refurbished laptop. The process took more than one hour (is that normal?),otherwise it was seamless successful, or so I thought. My two Users (one as ADMN, the other as STD) have different "behavior" and appearance. ADMIN is definitely in W11 while STD is in W10. For example: both emails are OUTLOOOK. ADMIN's is clearly the new version---so difficult to deal with, I abandoned it; STD's is definitely in my old W10 format ... I did not have to do anything, like I never upgraded. I am inclined to believe I have two OS?

No idea what is happening there, but it's physically impossible for both OS to be running concurrently without running one in a form of VM or Hyper-V.

I'm not really sure what you're describing here - you mention that one looks like 11, one looks like 10, but then you also point to Outlook (which is a separate program from the Windows OS) as evidence.

Are you saying the admin account is an administrator on the system and the Std account is a limited user account? That might play into things here, then. Or, are you instead saying that the account emails are outlook.com emails, but separate, independent accounts? If the latter is the case, it might simply be that you need to set up account sync on the Std account. Easy test is to make a brand new account (Alt, for all that matters) and log into it using the same Microsoft account as STD, and see if it looks like a new-fangled Win11 interface, or the old Win10 interface.

    This is my backup system.
I do not know how to answer this. Let me explain where I am coming from. In my old W10 PC (I still have and use it) I have same user names and accounts, one is Anton (ADMIN). and the other is Tony (STD or limited?). Both have identical behaviors and appearances. Then a week ago, I bought a new W10 HP which I upgraded yesterday to W11. Upgrading was seamlessly successful. PC is acting normally (a bit faster?. Is W11 faster?) but right away I recognized that the users have different mail formats and behaviors although they are both OUTLOOK. I presumed one is newer version, while the other is the old version (old verion is better). Why would upgrading change OUTLOOK mail in only one user account? That's is why I thought I have dual OS, which I really do not mind as I, so far, like W10 much better.
Btw, I noticed that 10 Forum is easier to navigate than 11 Forum. The difference is not as pronounced as the OUTLOOK's. Please do not tell me it is consequent to the OS upgrading.

AS far as I know, there are at least two mail systems available to Edge browser users in both W10 and W11- one is Microsoft Mail and the other is OUTLOOK Mail. I never used the MSN mail system. Only OUTLOOK. Over the years, OUTLOOK transformed from totally free-only system to today's two options...one is free like the old and the other is not free --a bigger space or storage and ad-free page, for a fee. I have the free one.

You probably describe a difference in appearance between the two users. The Administrator looks more moders (taskbat at the center, default Windows 11 wallpaper etc), while the standard user has some customizations that were retained from Windows 10. so it looks different. The same must be true about Outlook. One user has newer interface than the other, if this is possible, of course. Unless you are confusing Windows Mail app with Outlook. Or maybe there is some Outlook modern app that has different appearance from the traditional desktop version, not sure. I always use the desktop version.

First of all, Outlook's appearance won't be necessarily due to the OS as you're using Outlook.com webpage. What may cause a difference is the browser that you use, and such.

AS far as I know, there are at least two mail systems available to Edge browser users in both W10 and W11- one is Microsoft Mail and the other is OUTLOOK Mail. I never used the MSN mail system. I'm not sure what Microsoft Mail is. Are you referring to outlook.com (opened in a web browser) versus the Windows Mail application?

Yes, there is a difference between the types of accounts you have - a free Microsoft account using outlook.com versus an Office 365 / Microsoft 365 account using Outlook.com, but it should not be all that starkly different.

At this point, screenshots would probably help illustrate what you're trying to describe. If you choose to go that route, though, be sure to hide personal information, like email address and login accounts (pictures / avatars that are not of you yourself, should be fine).

This is outlook in stnd user in W11. It is identical with the outlook mail in BOTH users in W10. I will come back with screenshot of it in the admin user in W11. I have to log in admin user.

1652265975860.png

For some reason, snipping in Admin user does not keep snipped image. It snipped well, but when I let go. the isnipped image goes wthout being kept. Usually it asked whether or not I want it kept, usually as screenshot in Download file or desktop. I also cannot find the snipping tool app icon anywhere. I have to use keyboard shortcut (logo + shift + S). Do you know jhow to find it. In here, Stnd user, the app is listed in Start (actually I put it there from taskbar). I forgot how I have it in taskbar.

Block off your email addresses on the left, please.

Also: so, to open that you search for Outlook on your computer? Because that sure looks like Windows Mail to me.

I use both - Windows Mail for my normal accounts, and Outlook for my work accounts.

I have been using outlook for years. This mail is OUTLOOK. I do not know how to use or download other mail system. This W11 mail in Stnd user''s is OUTLOOK , identical to the OUTLOOK mails I have in W10, in both users. I think I am seeing two OUTLOOK versions in W11: old version (Std. user) and new version (Admin user). My surfing behaviors are entirely different between these users. in W11. Surfing in Std user (W11) is identical to surfing in both users in W10. In this W11 device, Std user surfing is entirely different from Admin. user's. That is why I am almost convinced I have two OS. Between my two PC's, (2020 W10 and 2021 W10 upgraded to W11), I have four mails...all OUTLOOKs, three are identical and one is newly different.
But System information lists only one OS ... W11 Home 64-bits. If I happen to have two, would System Info list two?
Btw, I do not know how to erase or red-ink the mail addresses.

Are you sure you run the Microsoft Outlook (blue "O" icon on newer versions) on both accounts, rather than the built-in Windows Mail app (white or light blue envelope icon) ? Unless you have installed two separate versions of Microsoft Outlook (such as 2010, orange "O" icon and 2019, blue "O" icon) so you run a different version in each account.

This mail is OUTLOOK
No, it is not. It is the built-in Mail app in Windows 10 & 11.

The fact that you might or might not have an MSAccount login or use an outlook email address does not change that fact.

"Outlook" is MSOffice Outlook. You do not have it.
"Mail" is Mail. It's in your Start menu as "Mail".

Please post your screenshot / photo of your other user account's Mail app so that the difference in appearance can be explained.

No use to argue here. Just common sense. If you see two different interfaces, so you either deal with two different versions of the same application, or two different applications. Also it is not possible to natively run two different OSes at the same PC at the same time, unless one runs natively (host) and the other on a virtual machine (guest), so this scenario is invalid.

I bet in your case one account has default mail application Microsoft Outlook and the other account has Mail app, hence the difference in interface.

Using an outlook.com account is not the same as using the Outlook program.

This is Microsoft Outlook, a part of Microsoft Office.

This is Outlook.com in a web browser for my primary Microsoft account.

This is Windows Mail, showing 4 Microsoft accounts. 3 of which are outlook.com accounts, converted from Hotmail.com accounts, and one of which is still a Hotmail account.

You have only one OS.

... surfing ... Surfing ... surfing ... surfing ...
If you also want to discuss surfing, you'll need to say which browser(s) you use.
It is possible to personalise browsers quite a bit so you'll need to include screenshots if you want to discuss differences between them in your various user accounts.

I do not know how to erase or red-ink the mail addresses
I'm disappointed by this remark because I told you how in one of your other threads.

This is outlook in stnd user in W11. It is identical with the outlook mail in BOTH users in W10. I will come back with screenView attachment 28836
I have been using outlook for years. This mail is OUTLOOK. I do not know how to use or download other mail system.

That's NOT Outlook, It's the Windows 11 built in "Mail" app. This is Outlook (365 desktop app) and what I use. And they are not "identical" in the way they both work and function - Is Outlook or Windows Mail the email client for you?

As johnlgalt stated.... "Using an outlook.com account is not the same as using the Outlook program." What you are using is Windows built in Mail app.

Peace
