This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off getting new photo notification from Android mobile devices to open and edit in Snipping Tool for your account in Windows 11.
Starting with Windows 11 build 22631.3235, you can now use the Snipping Tool on your PC to edit the most recent photos and screenshots from your Android device. You will get an instant notification on your PC when your Android device captures a new photo or screenshot.
This new experience replaces the remote capture with Phone Link experience that was announced back on September 14, 2023.
Starting with Windows 11 build 26100.7309 (24H2) and build 26200.7309 (25H2), you can now directly add and manage your mobile devices from Settings on your Windows PC by navigating to “Mobile Devices” under the Bluetooth & Devices section.
This Get new photo notifications setting from your mobile devices will require linking your Android phone to the PC and Allow this PC to access your mobile devices to be turned on.
EXAMPLE: Notification to open new capture from Android mobile device in Snipping Tool for markup
Here's How:
1 Open Settings (Win+I).
2 Click/tap on Bluetooth & devices on the left side, and click/tap on Mobile devices on the right side. (see screenshot below)
3 Perform an available action below: (see screenshots below)
The Manage devices button will be disabled and grayed out if Allow this PC to access your mobile devices is not turned on.
- Click/tap on the Manage devices button.
- Under Mobile devices, click/tap on the linked phone (ex: "Brink S23+") you want to manage.
4 Turn On (default) or Off Get new photo notifications for what you want. (see screenshots below)
If you have more than one added mobile device in the "Manage mobile devices" window, expand open the mobile device (ex: "Brink S23+") you want to manage.
5 You can now close Settings if you like.
That's it,
Shawn Brink
