Epic fail trying to remove CoPilot and Bing completely from Win 11 Pro

OS
Window 11 Pro, v.10.0.26200
After researching online (and, yes, even using CoPilot), I attempted to totally remove these programs following the instructions provided. This involved using Group Policy Editor to remove CoPilot and Registry Editor to remove Bing. While my changes were accepted with no error indications, upon restart, there was no discernable succes in removing these programs.

Any ideas why I cant remove these "features"?

I disabled Copilot by using O&O Shutup!

As for Bing, I don't have that or any widgets, because I uninstalled Edge. However that might be a bridge too far for some!

But as has been posted, try a specific uninstaller.

Yep. REVO Uninstaller (free)
Just make sure to do the "Scan" for leftovers and remove all that stuff too.

Thanks to all who replied.

As recommended/suggested above, I have used REVO to uninstall/remove BING. I have not yet verified the success of this removal, but at least REVO found it and (supposedly) removed it.
It offered no options for removal of CoPilot.

As for "O&O Shutup!", after reading comments on their web site, I feel that it's too risky for me to try for removing CoPilot (O&O Shutup!'s tendrils extend too deeply within the OS for my comfort).

O&O ShutUp! doesn't remove Copilot, it merely disables it as far as I know. At present, on my system, Copilot is disabled. I do however have the option to uninstall Copilot because of EU Digital Markets Act option. I haven't suffered any negative effects using O&O ShutUp! since I installed it last year.

To be honest, changing my Windows region to take advantage of the DMA, has been one of my better decisions implemented on my system. There's a lot to thank EU regulations for as far as I'm concerned.

In REVO Copilot should be on the "Windows Apps" tab.

Anyway, here's the tutorial for uninstalling CoPilot.

Apparently as easy as setting the region in the Control Panel then deleting a reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\DeviceRegion. Then Windows will rebuild the device region.
The Google Machine tells me WinToys can do this as well.

Yeah, but there are a lot of settings in the Region section of Control Panel. What specifically are you looking at?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\DeviceRegion

You talking about deleting these keys on the right, entirely? Yes? And then leaving the DeviceRegion folder on the left, empty?

If you've already "tampered" with removing a program, Revo has difficulty in finding the components to remove. Used initially/originally, in the first instance, it's almost infallible in removing and cleaning up

Often suggested when a program can't be found, it sometimes helps to re-install the target program, then re-run Revo

Make sure you sue the advanced option to remove all leftovers

For installed programs :
Install and run RevoUninstaller
Options tab (along the top) > Uninstaller (LH column)
Untick Make a Restore Point before uninstall
Tick Checkmark all leftovers by default
Uninstaller tab > Double click the desired program
Run the uninstallation process
IMPORTANT
DO NOT reboot even if prompted when completed (Cancel if prompted)

Select the Advanced button and then run the process to remove all leftover files/folders/registry entries left behind after a normal default uninstall process
If prompted at any stage previously, now do the reboot

For Windows bloatware apps :
Install and run RevoUninstaller
Options tab (along the top) > Uninstaller (LH column)
Untick Make a Restore Point before uninstall
Tick Checkmark all leftovers by default
Windows Apps tab > Double click the desired program
Run the uninstallation process
IMPORTANT
DO NOT reboot even if prompted when completed (Cancel if prompted)

Select Scan to run the process to remove all leftover files/folders/registry entries left behind after a normal default uninstall process
If prompted at any stage previously, now do the reboot

If Revo is unsuccessful, try Geek Uninstaller (often can find some options Revo misses)

I used the OOBE (Out of Box Experience) method to allow me to have the option of uninstalling Edge and Copilot. I did this using official MS methods so that my PC device region is now showing as being a EU Country (Ireland) instead of the UK. I could have used other methods but I chose the 'safe' option, so no third party tools involved which may or may not do what they claim.

I like my stripped back version, no Edge/Bing or widgets and as of the last few hours, I finally actually used the 3 dot uninstall method for Copilot in Apps as I don't use Copilot anyway. I just don't have that love for certain things in Windows OS that others seem to be so enthused with. There's a lot to thank EU lawmakers for regarding the Digital Markets Act. I'm still using O&O ShutUp! as it disables all of that telemetry guff too. My PC runs just fine without all that garbage going on in the background.

Thanks for responding.

So essentially using your method would mean reinstalling the OS from the beginning and making those selections during the install process, correct?

And there was no conflict with whatever IP you used? It didn’t seek a mismatch at anytime?

Yes, but using OOBE you can keep your personal files etc but you must follow the tutorial for it implicitly. Usual, back everything up first.

No IP conflict, no VPN involved, no mismatch, just run OOBE and select a EU Country of your choice. Obviously Ireland for me was a natural choice being a native English speaker.

Some would see the effort as too much or may not even be interested in having a choice to change things. I prefer having the choice.
