Everything on the screen is green!

Everything on my Windows 11 screen is green! The picture is fine when I am in Linux. I've tried uninstalling the nVidia driver and doing a clean reinstall of the latest driver. Video card is an nVidia RTX 3060.

Any idea what is happening?

Found something...

If I set the refresh rate to 30hz I get my normal colors back. Setting it back to 60Hz breaks it again. This is with nVidia's 552.12 driver.

I've installed the v472.12 driver and now have a working 60Hz, but this driver is a few years old.

Found one more thing... If I disable HDR with the new driver I can get 60Hz normally.

So I guess I need to choose between 60Hz and HDR.

I’d go back to a driver that works. Skip this one and wait for the next driver update to see if that does the same thing, OR:

There are two types of drivers from Nvidia:
Nvidia Studio Driver
Nvidia Game Ready Driver

Both are relevant to the card you are downloading drivers for
You could go to the download page and download them manually.

Although I do graphic design, I no longer use the “Studio Driver” I have had too many buggy ones.

Thanks... I've tried several drivers now of both the Game Ready and the Studio variety. Any 5xx series driver has the green issue. Any 4xx series driver downgrades my video (I don't get 4K video, even though that's the resolution I have chosen.)

What's really frustrating is that my laptop using onboard Intel video works perfectly fine at 60Hz and 4K.

As you said it doesn’t happen in Linux, I assume the answer to this is “NO”

Is the screen green before Windows opens? If you go into your BIOS, is the screen green?

The screen does not go green until Windows starts loading.

So it’s obviously not a hardware issue (I’d suspect) It’s an odd one, Caleb.
