External HDD case creating unknown USB devices, while working fine

I'm using a Fantec QB-35U31 HDD case that supports 4 SATA devices over a single USB 3.2 connection. Running Windows 11 25H2 on an Asus Z690-i with a 13600k.

I've been using this case with 3 SATA drives for the past 5+ years with no issues. It doesn't use any proprietary drivers or softwares.

Recently, I suddenly have one, sometimes two unknown USB devices show up in my device manager.

They show up as Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) and Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed).

When I unplug the USB case, they disappear. However, the case is still working fine. I'm able to use all four drives (added a fourth for testing), I'm getting the full speed, no read or write errors, all great.

If I run Linux on the same machine, no strange devices or device errors appear. No entries in the event viewer, either.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Update the chipset and USB controller drivers.

Uninstall USB controller driver if updating won't help and reboot your system.

I'm running the latest drivers available from Windowsupdate/Asus website already.
I also installed the Intel Driver and Support Assistant to see if it had anything newer to offer, but only the WiFi/BT drivers had an update.
Will try removing the USB controller drivers.

Edit: After Reboot and all USB devices being re-set up, the Port Reset Failed device is gone again for now, but the Device Descriptor Request Failed one is still there.
