OS
win 11
Win 11 likes to put up background image on startup and ask me if I like it. If I answer it will repeat the process three times prior to booting up. How do I get rid of this and let the computer boot right away. Thanks.

Do you mean at Lock Screen?

The lock screen in Windows 11 can display any picture you like, show multiple images in a slideshow, or even new pictures every day, downloaded directly from Microsoft’s servers.

Launch Settings (Windows + I) app and select Personalization on the left.

On the right side of the window, click on the Lock screen option from the Personalization list.

I'm not sure what a lock screen is but your recommendation didn't work. It still goes through the picture routine on every boot up either from sleep or turned off.

the first screen you see with the images before the login screen is called the Lock Screen.
If you want to login bypassing the Lock and Login Screen and go straight to Windows without typing in a password, then in Windows, go to Search and type netplwiz and press Enter. Select your User Account and Uncheck Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer Apply and OK restart the computer.

When that image appears the computer has already booted up and is in the process of loading Windows. On mine sometimes that image will be from the previous start of Windows then change to the current one. I don't often use the Lock [WinKey + L], don't need it since I mostly work from home and get called to clients' sites to do the job. If wanting to find the images it can be done on Win10 and Assets [a buried folder] but I haven't tried on Win11 yet but should be the same. They do not have a 'regular' file name but can be opened in Windows Photo Viewer, mine are located at
C:\Users\Bert\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets
Might check the Spotlight feature.

Understanding what lock screen means allowed me to solve the problem. An internet search on bypassing the lock screen turned up several options. I chose one that involved a simple registry edit. Problem solved. Thanks.

I believe netplwiz no longer works with Windows 11. Instead you can use the autologon method provided by MS via Sysinternals which is documented here. Works for me on all my PCs.

Yes, that's a known change and the remedy is also known.
