Solved File Explorer: how to remove unwanted features?

Explorer wastes an enormous amount of screen estate on features that are not interesting to me:

1. Library folders: I do not want them; I place, as far as possible, everything that matters on a separate partition, where they can be safely shared with Linux, and where they are also safe from Windows innovations.

2. View mode: I always and everywhere prefer Details mode, without a Type column, which adds no information when extensions are already displayed.

Can this be accomplished within Explorer itself?

You can also choose the column headings by right clicking on the column headings bar...








And if you want to mess around with Custom Icons...

In any version of Windows, most things can be controlled by mouse clicks.
Left click for actions... Right click for various options.

There are also a huge amount of keyboard shortcuts... (unzip and open in Notepad)

I hate to type, so the Leader Board link above, has most of the most asked for Windows tweaks.

And you can do a lot of what you want really easily with Winaero's free tweaker. All explained, reversible, and easy to use.

(Does many of the same things as in the tutorials, the same way of course).

I agree about not putting personal data in the default library folders- why?
a. Because they are on the Windows partition
b. Because many programs you might install create folders in them (so you really need to keep them).
But you can hide them. E.g. thus:
