File Explorer left pane does not equal right pane--path not seen.

Win 11 Pro ver.: 24H2 (26100.6899)

In Windows Explorer Options I do have 'expand to open folder' checked However, when I go/look at the right pane of a subfolder I do not see where I am on the left pane. An example is this, I am in my MediaMonkey player. I right-click a file (song) and choose "Show in Explorer". Explorer opens and I see the files within this folder (which is actually a sub folder or sub, sub) on the right pane. If I look at the left pane, I have no indication as to where I am. I must look up to read the path and then navigate there myself manually. Didn't Early Win 11 (or was it win 10/8) show this in the left pane. I would like it to do so but can't see how to go about it.

On the Left Panel, the Parent folder should be highlighted.
Drilling down on the highlighted folder on the left panel will show you the child folder that matches the right panel.

folder options > view > uncheck "expand to open folder"



close all file explorer windows

regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Modules\NavPane

delete ExpandedState

reboot

re-enable "expand to open folder"

open file explorer and check

and Thank you dacrone. I did what you suggested and nothing has changed

Take a look at what I see; the only highlighted item is desktop and always is Desktop

Does your D: drive show in the navigation pane under This PC?

What happens if you go to a file without using MediaMonkey?
Finding this out will tell you if the problem is some quirk of MediaMonkey's behaviour.
Perhaps MediaMonkey is not opening File explorer but some file dialog*** instead - does Task manager show a File explorer process opening when you use MediaMonkey "Show in explorer"?

*** Just as File open dialogs and File save dialogs are not File explorer but independent objects albeit being similar to File explorer.

In MediaMonkey, right click a track or folder and choose Properties. It will show you the full path of the Music
When MeidaMonkey opens in (Windows) File Explorer, you can hover your pointer on the Address bar and it will also show you the full path of the file.
You then can browse to that location.
