File preview blocked after KB5066835 Update

After installing the KB5066835 update, file previews have been blocked for all files. I’ve tried a few methods to unblock them manually—either one by one or folder by folder—but it becomes very difficult when dealing with network shared folders.


If anyone has found an effective or easier solution for this issue, please share your method.

Yes that's a known issue, have a scan though this forum for the cure, it's likely waiting for you in Windows Update already.

I did this as a temporary fix, but reduces protective flags — so we loose some of the ‘browser downloaded file’ warnings.

Try windows update and install the recent Out-Of-Band update to see if it resolves your problem.
I don’t see a mention of this bug but it may help.

The most effective way to resolve thumbnail and preview issues after such updates is to clear and rebuild the thumbnail cache.

That will not cure the problem that @muhammedkpy has asked about in his startpost. Because after KB5066835 all files that are blocked (if they come from somewhere else) will no more have a preview. That has been a deliberate action/change of Microsoft in the File Explorer app!
