It was a long time coming but I finally upgraded my main desktop to Windows 11. Has anyone else procrastinated a long time like I did before upgrading to Windows 11?

10/17/21: Upgraded desktop CPU, RAM, and GPU for planned upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro
11/05/21: Upgraded desktop from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro
11/15/21: Rolled back to Windows 10 Pro

I went back to Windows 10 because I didn't like Windows 11.

10/04/22: Bought new laptop, an ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2022). It came with Windows 11 Home.
05/06/23: Upgraded Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro.

Since the laptop came with Windows 11, I decided to use this as an opportunity to learn to use Windows 11.

01/10/24: Upgraded desktop from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro

This time I plan to keep Windows 11 on the desktop. I may find some programs that do not work on Windows 11 but I have decided to live with that if it happens.

Yes, I haven't upgraded any of our normal systems in our house yet. My desktop, wifes desktop, sons desktop and daughters desktop are all still running on Windows 10. Reason being, they aren't broken and are running great....so why introduce a change.

I have Windows 11 on my Beelink mini PC that I have been using as a test box for Windows 11 for awhile and it's been completely fine. I have no concerns or problems with 11 on this device and if one of my above boxes happen to need a rebuild, I would put it into Windows 11.

My work laptop is also running Windows 11.

NOT too late to Windows 11 party.

my PCs grouped into two, Windows 7 and 11.

Any ones with SSD or newer hardware, go Windows 11. any ones need disposing, go Windows 11.

my main force is still Windows 7. I am lazy, no energy to re-write code of those excel macro and python. Windows 11 has many security upgrade. old macro gets blocked and cannot run on the new OS. debugging and update is too much work.

btw, some DDR2 PCs couldn't upgrade to Windows 11. run freezing up often. they also have to stay with Windows XP/7.

It was not that they couldn't upgrade - it was simply cheaper to start over with newer - and cheaper - hardware; I upgraded several (home usage) - too many would rather replace entire instead of upgrading - my Dell minitower is a rebuild - and is my first i7 that I have ever owned.

I've never really had any glaring issues with Win11 so began using it early on. I built a new daily driver awhile back(early 2022?) but decided to keep it at Win10 even though Win11 was already out. I eventually let it update to Win11 several months back. But I have multiple backup systems that have been running Win11 for quite a while now.

I recently upgraded less than a month ago. It was a bit of a struggle, and the folks here helped me a lot.
This is my 7th O/S in more than 20 years and I must admit, that switching got easier each time. Maybe because the O/S got more user friendly or I got wiser?
All of my little special programs that worked on 10, worked on 11 with a little tweaking.
Win 10 was running OK for me and the fact it was running out of support was not an issue for me. My old PC was running slow and rather than doing a re=format, I decided to take the "plunge" and upgrade both my O/S and my hardware.
No regrets. :)

I haven't had any app issues so not sure which apps you have issues with

11 is okay obnoxious of course and once you get defender out of the way and it's silly blocking features off it's down to just windows updates running all the time.

I was the opposite, UI was an 'early adopter'. I bought my first 'Windows 11 ready' laptop in July 2021, intending to migrate the OS and installed apps from my old Windows 10 'main machine', ready to get the upgrade to 11 when released. I ran a test migration on it, upgraded to the Insiders W11 build, until the end of September 2021. Then I migrated the W10 OS for the final time and it was offered the upgrade to the RTM W11 build on 20 Oct 2021.

I have not yet found anything that runs on windows 10 but not on Windows 11.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

I did. On an unsupported PC. Otherwise it came on my recently purchased laptop.

I have 2 unsupported Notebooks I've upgraded from Win10 to Win11, one Home and one Pro, no issues, one from 2013 and one from 2014.

I did get a new Notebook in Oct. '21 after release of Win11 same month and a new Desktop in Apr. '22.

Yes they can both be true. Every version of Windows has its good and bad points. Each person has to decide which are more important. Sometimes if they obnoxious enough you just have to hold your nose. :eek1:

win 11 is still broken for lot of things in case anyone finds it on google search stay with 10 as long as possible till win 11 is fixed properly and we get to use things like we expect them to be or better.
Even sharing in win 10 is just simple one click with system with no username and password. Here in win 11 VLC wont even let it login to network because they removed anonymous login. Have to tweak it to make it login by adding the URL of windows machine with " : " ( without inverted comas) as username took me like a week to figure it out and i ended uninstalling VLC multiple times due to that thinking something other is the reason.
