Revo that installation of Firefox and install a fresh copy. Use the Stable version.

This bug has been fixed in Firefox 140.10.2 in ESR branch and in other branches as well.

It's now up to 140.11.0 ESR and I haven't noticed any memory issues for a long time now. If they've improved memory management recently then that's a good thing, yes?

They broke it when they started to use AI "to find security holes" recentry, but it broke everything so they had to roll back those AI changes.
