I just use Chrome to open pdf files and Word usuly doed a good job of importing a pdf file if you want to edit the file. Note print to pdf from your web browser is also a simple way of saving a formated web page.

Best ebook reader (bar none) and can also change ebook formats so you can use Amazon AZI3 stuff (their kindle format) or convert epub to kindle AZI3 format is Calibre --FREE and works on Windows / Linux etc etc.

For PDF reader (assuming it's just read) what's wrong with Firefox or even Ms Edge !!

just go into Windows settings -->default applications--> and set for pdf the browser.

(Manipulating pdf's etc is another issue but I assume for just READ).

Cheers

I don't doubt it, but, I don't need such a large program with all those options.

Nothing.
However, when I'm in Production Mode, I need 7 PDF's open in Tabs, and 3 of them in duplicate windows..., Sumatra just works better for me. 🤷‍♂️

Bit inconsistent -- you said it gave up the ghost on a tablet !!!! so it's obviously got problems !!!

Actually I use kindles a lot when travelling and it's great that a load of stuff in epub format can be used on kindles after conversion -- why Amazon doesn't want to change the kindle firmware to add epup to the format is bonkers -- there's absolutely loads of good epubs out there in the public domain too !!!

Cheers

SumatraPDF, I do not need 1+GB app to open 1MB PDF, it can take up to 10+ secs just to open the app.
Besides SumatraPDF's dev intentionally avoids adding features that could make it potentially vulnerable.
Portable version is a single executable (20MB), can be run from USB drive and doesn't write to registry.
I downloaded SumatraPDF and it is very fast.

Just need to be able to convert files from .pdf and I do nt see that feature in it.

Perhapps I am overlooking something.
