Fully disable Widgets

Well, I haven't uninstalled anything with Command or PowerShell, either. Wait, I took out all the "User Folders" from Navigation pane with Brink's tutorial for that. But that's all.

Well, I uninstalled "Windows Web Experience Pack", and that got rid of widgets.
I don't know yet, if it broke anything else... I'm gonna check that now.

View attachment 9284

Well... Edge and Windows Store still work. :)
My Revo Uninstaller 4.5 (which I just updated to) doesn't show a Windows Web Experience Pack under Windows Apps that can be uninstalled. My understanding of the Packs is they are installed, even under Win 10, from the Microsoft Store which I've never done on 10 or 11. If this method works to get rid of Widgets (if I choose that route) then I'd need to install this Pack from the Store first to use that method.

Edit: What a web we weave!!!

I think that method was spoken of in another thread here but for now I am content with deleting news sources I don't want and am only waiting to see if they get repopulated in the days ahead which would then lead me to nuking Widgets altogether using one of the methods here.

I wonder whether that policy setting works on precisely the key value we discussed above. Would you mind checking in your reg to see whether that value is 0?

Set to 1. For what it's worth with it disabled through gpedit it truly is disabled,

isn't even possible to enable the Taskbar icon.

Thanks for the second method as well. I have always gone to the Weather Channel website for more info but I do like the quickness of looking at the Widget first in the morning and on Win 10 that was all that was there. The entertainment "news" on the Widgets is most annoying and may eventually provoke me into using the above methods, although for now I've eliminated that nonsense so I'll see if it gets repopulated or not and if the latter then it goes.
Take a look at this taskbar weather applet GitHub - FelixdelasPozas/TrayWeather: Tray Weather is a simple application to retrieve and show weather information for a given geographic location in a small dialog and in the Windows OS system tray.
