Gaming Services - how do I uninstall this PERMANENTLY?


Hi Chris,

I fear attempting by trial and error, but try this in PowerShell (w/admin): remove-appxpackage -AllUsers -Package Microsoft.Xbox.TCUI_1.23.28004.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe
Repeat for each XBox instance.

This didn't give me any errors, so I hope it works for you.

Since I have Disabled all xBox services I don't see GS in task manager or in Programs & Features
and I have a bunch of games on here.

In REVO , there are no xBox entries or GS either.

If you can see GS in Programs & Features, I would use the Hunter mode to uninstall that entry.

Yeah, I wouldn't do that !
Are you seeing it in P&F ?
Have you tried to simply uninstall it?
Can you see it's file folder in Explorer?
If you can , maybe uninstall it from there but, there might be dependencies associated with this file.

That Gaming Services app also installed a file system filter driver called gameflt.sys, you'll need to ensure that is removed as well. Here's the FRST script which I use:

Powershell: Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers -Package Microsoft.GamingServices_13.80.9001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
cmd: sc stop gameflt
cmd: pnputil /delete-driver oem#.inf /uninstall
cmd: sc delete gameflt

The package name and oem# may vary between machines so you will need to find this information yourself but doing Get-AppxPackage -Name *GamingServices* and searching the registry for any instances of gameflt.sys. You could try pnputil /enum-drivers though and that should help you find the oem# as well.
