Solved Going from Release Preview to DEV channel.

Win 11 Insider Release Preview and Beta channels.
Anyone ever change channels from PR to the Dev and notice how long it takes? My PC started out just fine, but when it got to 61% stopped altogether. Or at least I think it stopped. I let it run and watched the movie "El Cid" which was 3 hours long and when it was over, it was still at 61%. I stopped it and went back to PR build. Why so long? Or why does it stop? Thanks.

The difference between RP and Dev is that RP is just an update, each Dev is an upgrade.
An upgrade might fail, so you might need to restore the system image to upgrade again.

The time can depend a lot on CPU, amount you have on C Drive, hard drive type etc. 3hrs is not unknown.

It can take a long time creating windows.old.

Without more deatails of your pc and setup, it is hard to comment.
