Among all the old “monster movies” which I never get tired of, one that always sticks in my memory is a 1958 film -- “The Trollenberg Terror” -- a story occurring in the mountains of Switzerland. Oh, it wasn’t the BEST monster film -- not even close to it! The reviews were mostly negative. And I can’t really argue with them, because the monsters in it were the most ridiculous and goofy-looking things that anyone could dream up. Instead of scaring the audiences, it just made them laugh. But it was a good story, and in fact a very complicated one, based on an “invasion from outer space” theory that was, in itself, perfectly logical -- if you accept the possibility that there COULD be living things on far-away planets. And, ironically, it’s safe for even the youngest children to see -- because it can’t possibly SCARE them!
