I googled it and some said it's adware and others say it's fine. After I installed it I ran a malware scan and there were no detections. That means it's safe right?
Epic has a partnership with Yahoo (Why?) so Yahoo is allegedly whitelisted in their built-in ad-blocker.
It has a Free VPN. This is possibly where the malware comes into it?
Free VPN’s have notorious reputations in regards to collecting data which is passed on to third parties.
Epic Browser isn’t open source
I went to the Apple App Store, the Epic browser App hasn’t been updated for 4 years.
Epic is built on Chromium
You’d be better off using Brave which has a huge user base now and it’s growing. People seem to trust it. I don’t see the same warm fuzzy feeling on the net about Epic. Brave is also built on Chromium.
Or use a Fork of Firefox or just make Firefox work for you in regards to privacy and protection. You can “Harden” Firefox but I have never attempted it or know anything much about it.
