A computer service that can check other computers, not only the ones they sell, can do a hard disk scan and recover data for a reasonable price, but if you download the application you can do it for yourself and pay less.

@Trebo58 If you have already bought Minitool Partition Recovery, use @jumanji instructions to recover your data on a different disk. If you recover only the book it should fit on a USB flash drive. Also most applications save the scanning status. That means you don't have to recover all the partition at once if you don't have time or space on a different disk to do that. You can recover your book and then reload the application some other time, load the scanning status and continue recovering without scanning again.

As I stated previously, at least they will have their options if they have a licensed version of Minitool. Why pay a data recovery centre hundreds and hundreds for a one shot deal when you could own the software to DIY any time it is needed? 😕

I agree. The recovery center is when the disk is physically damaged and your data are very precious to lose. Otherwise just forget about them. When I was working at a computer store we did recoveries and only when it was impossible to recover any data with our standard recovery tools we recommended a recovery center to the customer.
