It's the mounting kit that you need to make sure you have.
You need either the universal kit or the AM4 kit.

Wish i could just find the mounting kit. . But CM is out of stock, and I can't afford to get a whole new kit with fans (unless I sent back the Noctua Fans). ..

That may work, just as long as it mounts in the correct direction.
It looks like it will be facing the wrong direction, unless that "clamp" goes on in "either" direction.
The one I have doesn't have that locking clamp thing.
But I don't have version 2.

I do remember that on version 1, you could mount it either direction.
You sure you can't put that locking clamp on the other way... like... through the heat pipes?



The original Hyper 212 EVO used a backing plate and this X looking thing.
And you used the 4 screws on the ends of the arms to attach it...

Because of the back plate and the X thing... it could be attached either way.
Either up/down or front to back, airflow.


This is the Hyper 212 EVO v2, and it doesn't look like yours...

I'm sure that adapter mounts the heatsink at 90° off the normal orientation, as it uses the AM4 mounting points.

Unless the bracket can be taken apart, I can't see how you'd thread it through the heat pipes. It looks like it's not designed for that.

I wonder whether the heatsink would fit in the case in the 90° orientation? It might be OK, if it doesn't interfere with the RAM or the shroud around the rear I/O panel.

Mounted that way, it would be best if the case fans were set up to maximize the vertical airflow in the case.

Too bad that the OP is phobic about AIO water coolers. I have a spare Corsair iCUE H115i RGB PRO XT lying around, with all of its hardware. I'd donate it just to end this thread.

I do remember that on version 1, you could mount it either direction.
You sure you can't put that locking clamp on the other way... like... through the heat pipes?



The original Hyper 212 EVO used a backing plate and this X looking thing.
And you used the 4 screws on the ends of the arms to attach it...

Because of the back plate and the X thing... it could be attached either way.
Either up/down or front to back, airflow.

Yeah, my MB looks like the 1st image (locking clamps are up and down instead of side to side. . . . So, i do NOT have the Hyper 212 EVO. Yeah, the locking clamp thing won't go side to side. It's a one way thing.

Unless the bracket can be taken apart, I can't see how you'd thread it through the heat pipes. It looks like it's not designed for that.

I wonder whether the heatsink would fit in the case in the 90° orientation? It might be OK, if it doesn't interfere with the RAM or the shroud around the rear I/O panel.

Mounted that way, it would be best if the case fans were set up to maximize the vertical airflow in the case.

Too bad that the OP is phobic about AIO water coolers. I have a spare Corsair iCUE H115i RGB PRO XT lying around, with all of its hardware. I'd donate it just to end this thread.

I was mistaken. It's an iCue H100i RGB Pro XT. (240 mm AIO cooler, two 120 mm fans.) It was purchased new in October of 2020. I believe that I used it for less than 4 months, before I upgraded to the H115i (280mm) cooler.

I have some older coolers, but iCue models are more recent, and superior (IMHO). Installation instructions are here. For an AM3/AM4 motherboard, it uses the stock mounting brackets.

For those Fahrenheit-phobes, 71F =21.7C.

I'm skeptical that a cooler that doesn't use phase change or thermoelectric elements could cool below the ambient air temperature.

Well... thermostat is by the BLUE dot.
A/C is set to 66F, and is right near the computer.
But temp outside right now, is 73F. :-)
