Help needed

OK this is confusing but let me try I have a Asus router that is 200 feet from a metal bulding I have a outside antenna attached to the metal bulding and that antenna goes into a computer with a usb drive whch in turn feeds ff the Asus router I have good internet but I want to attach it to a router I have tried hooking it up to a router antenna But that does not work I have purchased a USB to RJ45 adapter hopeing I can feed it into a router WAN port but that does not work eather can someone help me get this figured out it is driving me nuts. THank you

It is not clear what you are asking. Why not create a sketch showing you setup and what you want to do and paste an image?

What he has is an outdoor WiFi antenna with a reverse polarity SMA coax cable that is plugged into the antenna port of a network adapter installed in a PC. He wants to do away with the PC and have internet/network available in the remote building by using the external antenna to extend the WiFi signal being received from the base router.

I would suggest upgrading the external antenna to this:

You would also then replace the RP SMA antenna cable coming into the building with a CAT 6 ethernet cable and plug it into a power supply to insert the power needed for the unit.

I am not understanding this , Do I need two AC1200 units one to extend and one to recieve ? and the cat 6 would be attached to power supply meaning AC110 power and how would that be attached to that , I am very confushe

You only need 1 unit. It would replace the outside antenna you have now. The difference is that it is a self-contained WiFi extender. It will receive the existing WiFi signal and rebroadcast it. It will also allow send the network traffic through the CAT6 ethernet cable if you need to connect to a wired network in the metal building. For power, you use a power injector which will power on the CAT6 ethernet cable going to the extender.

Would the signal be strong enough to go through the metal building or do I run Ethernet cable from it to router?

It should reach inside the building for a limited distance.

I was looking at the suggested external antenna but I can't find the range for one antenna (or maybe I was reading too fast). But it did suggest to use 2 antennae for long distance but it wasn't defined what is "long distance".

In that scenario the AP device is your "Base" and the "Repeater" is the Extender. Usually the Extender ties to the Base using the Base MAC and is "slaved" off of it simply repeating commands issued to it through the wireless or ethernet connections. It is quite efficient when setup properly and can be confusing in the beginning to setup. Make sure the Extender is chosen to be a Repeater. Otherwise you will have both devices trying to issue IP's and redirect traffic and will have a mess. Plug in your Repeater MAC to the BASE for connectivity and the Base MAC to the Repeater. Then connect the Cat 6. Reboot both. And they should pair and SYNC and begin cooperating as normal. The metal building will have an effect on signal strength. Place the repeater antenna as high as possible when choosing a location. I hope this helps.
