(Windows 11) I kind of need this problem fixed, otherwise I won't be able to log back in. 3 days ago my laptop started not being able to press the a or s key and sometimes it would work again after some time or jiggling the key (unless when I did it the key started working again without the movement making a difference). I would play games on it, but I don't get why it just started happening and if its a driver issue (I updated all keyboard drivers) or my keyboard is dying. My keyboard is built into a hp laptop not sure the model. Any help would be appreciated.

Model should be underneath the Laptop. What does it say, exactly? Take a photo?

You play games, are those keys a part of the games keyboard layout?
Reads like you have to replace the keyboard. There are some in here that have done it themselves.

Hi, the model is: 15-dy2036nr. My keyboard is attached to it so I cant replace it in a normal desktop pc sense. and if you mean layout I use the wasd keys, but I care more about the keyboard for work stuffs then using it for whatever game.

As stated, take a picture of the bottom of the HP laptop. It should list the Make and Model # and Serial #
As stated, chances are great the laptop keyboard needs to be replaced. You can get one on Ebay.

Thanks for the help, sorry I couldn't get a pic for you Spunk it was grey text on a grey laptop so it was unreadable on a picture. I uninstalled and reinstalled my driver just to see and now its working fine so I guess it was bugged or something. If it does go out tho ill definitely get a new one. Thanks guys for the help.

Not the right fix, but an external keyboard would be an alternative. Any would work as long as it’s a USB of course.

Take a picture of the bottom or your laptop with your smart phone. You can Zoom into the photo so you can read the text.

Or you can Restart the laptop pressing F10 repeatedly to enter Setup (Bios) here under System Information you will see the Make and Model # and Serial #

If you want to attempt to replace the keyboard, you can search Ebay for a keyboard for that model #. You can follow the Youtube video in post #6 or by searching for your specific model # on Youtube.

If this is too daunting, you can take it to your local computer repair guy to do the labor. If you order the part, you will save money on the markup the repair guy will charge you for the part.

If you don't move your laptop, using a USB Keyboard will allow to still use the laptop till you are ready to repair it.
