Actually, I was going to post a YouTube video of this fellow who was demonstrating how an x99 platform could run over 100 SATA drives on an Intel X class CPU. (Not a Xeon.) Alas, I watched that video years ago and could not find it on YouTube today.

I was curious however, to see what a 2TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO NVMe drive would do on this old platform but now that I have it I just might skip on that approach and see how it fairs on my GEN4 build instead. :::sigh::: decisions decisions. I have so much recovery to do and so little time. Moving huge swaths of data within hours instead of days could actually come in handy on the work station but I just can't afford a 10TB stick of NVMe. I'll just have to make the most of it, I suppose. Yes, yes... and all those duplicate files demanding my attention. A nightmare of sifting and sorting. This could make for a nifty little scratch drive.

I am more of a dame & I don't own a damned hanky!! In the US it is slang to call a female a dame if she a little rough around the edges or if she is up there in years so I am certainly both those things. But in the UK the title dame is the female equivalent of a knight so in that respect no white-knighting is necessary since I do not need rescuing. I am perfectly capable of deciding for myself. If I make a wrong decision, that's on me.

I asked for opinions and that's what I got. I expected responses from Samsung users and I learned a lot from them.. I also expected (and got) contributions from folks whose opinions I have come to respect.

What I did not expect was sarcasm and disrespect toward one who took their time to answer me. Since I'm the original poster, it would be remiss of me if I didn't point out how adverse I am to it happening..

@johnlgalt has never 'white-knighted' me or anyone else. If you spent as much time on this forum as many of us do, you would know his insights are consistently helpful in every post he's makes. For you to imply otherwise was downright rude. As John said, this forum has built its reputation on the quality of the advice and attention its members give to the people who come here for help and information. He has helped a lot of those people.

You did make a statement I totally agree with. "I'm certainly done with this thread". I'll ask admin to close it for any more responses.
Again, thank you all for your input and I sincerely apologize that my question veered in such a direction.
