Hibernate or sleep or shut down?

I only put my pc into sleep over the weekend, but most of the time it seems to randomly wake up. So from this weekend i will rather switch the machine off. Irritating that basic functionality still have problems. I have also checked I don't have any drivers preventing the pc going into sleep.

My Asus laptop can sleepernate.

Modern Standby is an interesting thing. I see a lot of complaints about it, but I absolutely love it. Admittedly, I've only had experience with it on two machines.

My primary laptop (a Lenovo) has Modern Standby and it works absolutely flawlessly. If I leave it in Standby all night I'll loose maybe 5% battery overnight. It has NEVER woken up unexpectedly and I've been using it almost 2 years now.

A friend just got a cheap little Chuwi laptop that also has Modern Standby. I left it in Standby all night long and in the morning it was still at 100% charge and woke instantly. I'm curious to know how on earth they do that.

I just turn off the display and lock the computer...

Buy a 8Gb memory module for $10.
The laptop battery has lasted too long and is probably not very reliable.
You don't need hibernation when not using the battery.

Built a brand new system a few months ago. I put my system to sleep every night and then when I wake up in the morning I tap a few keys and everything comes right up. I am comfortably retired and can afford the AC. If I am traveling I shut the system down. Works for me.
