Which arrow do you mean?

003435.webp

The left or the right one?

The right one belongs to 'location' and possibly can be hided by moving it to the left arrow.
I am not sure about that, because I have a desktop PC without location.
The left arrow can't be hided, unless you would use some tweaking app like StartAllBack.

Edit: was not sure about which app (Windhawk or StartAllBack) would hide the left arrow, but just did a test: it's StartAllBack.
In StartAllBack you can hide the location arrow as well.

Edit 2: A screenshot of the settings of StartAllBack:

If you click one of those symbols, you get the option to enable or disable it.

Edit 3: Stupid of me, you mentioned location arrow in your question!
Should learn to read better!

only native way is to turn off Location Services.
*are you using any mod software, such as Windhawk, EP or SAB?

I'm kinda guessing here, I would have to do testing, but I suspect that it works like this:

I'm think that it is not location services that is showing the icon, but rather the app that is using the location service. As an example, suppose that the Weather app tries to get location info. I suspect that it is the weather app showing the notification. You might try simply turning off notifications for those specific apps that retrieve location information.

If you do try this, let me know if that ends up working.

well partially. as far as i understand it, the location services is what shows the tray icon. if you

1) disable location services - that icon will never show in the tray
2) disable a specified app - it will not show in tray when using that app, because it does not have access to location services anymore

so, it will still show in the tray when using an app that is not prevented from using location services... so using your example of Weather being restricted from using location services: it will not show in the tray when using the Weather app, but it would still show in the tray when using (example) Maps app.

Yes, I will often see that arrow for maybe 5-10 seconds on boot-up, or when something is starting. It's like a place-holder.

How we help keep you informed: the location icon

When one or more apps are currently using your device location through the Windows location service, you’ll see the location icon in the notification area of your taskbar. Hover over the icon to see the name of the app or apps using location.

You can also see which apps are currently using your precise location or have recently accessed your precise location on your Windows device by going to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Location and under Let apps access your location you'll see the date and time when location was last used.

And yes, Windhawk has a mod which can hide "Geolocation services":

I am using Windhawk and just had a look at that mod (which is installed on my PC).
Indeed, the option to hide location arrow is there:

Someone give this man a medal, I ain't got a spare one. At work we're forced to have Location on. IT said it's a must in order to ... whatev, some updates or whatever. Sounds more like spying to me but anyway the annoying popping in and out icon was driving me nuts until I read this comment. Bless you!

any way to disable it in regular windows 11 yet? I'm having way too many problems so I'm scared to install things like windhawk but I will if I gotta

sorry I'm bumping an old thread but it seems like the best thing to do and I'm terrible at searching the net annnd it keeps popping up which shifts the whole taskbar a bit, and three times now while making this post alone I've tried to drag it but can't (and didn't get to it in time to drag it three more times so far lol it's brutal) and one last time yeah I can confirm it can't even be hidden apparently, not even in settings, it's an app I run that pings my location cosntantly

Settings >Privacy & Security >Location

Switch location services off.

Or when it’s showing, just drag and drop it to the overflow tray icons. Won’t pop up (visibly) anymore.

Btw, if using a work pc… I would highly advise not installing any software…
