How can I add an entry for "New Text Document" in Windows 11 new context menu?

Hello,

Currently, to create a new text document, I have to Right click > New > Text document.

But as I create a lot of text files dailies, I'd like to speed up my workflow by adding a new entry to the new Windows 11 modern context menu Right click > New Text Document.

Does anyone know how to do it? (I know it's possible because I have a program that add something similar for folder, right click > New Folder.)

Why not just pin notepad to the taskbar? That's what I did.

I create new text file in multiple different folders. And I don't edit the content. I only change the file names. That seems like a slower way with CTRL+S and select location, etc.

I haven't tested yet, but here is a lengthy tutorial that says it does just what you want, albeit a registry edit seems to be required.

That seems to add the entry to the old menu (from the screenshot). I'm looking to add an entry to the new context menu (not the one in "Show more options").

Unfortunately, that's not quite what I want. The suggested guide still do right click > New > New document.

What I want is:
Right click > New document (right away without going through another layer of New if you get what I'm saying).

I don't believe that's going to happen for you in new context menu. For your purpose, would it not make more sense to use the classic context menu?

I'm still not sure I understand what you're looking for, but would this work for you if a right-click inside a folder showed this?

I don't want to use the classic context menu. It's too convoluted with A LOT of nonessential stuff added by various installed programs (and it looks ugly tbh).

Unless Brink knows a registry hack he hasn't shared with us (and he shares everything) it's not possible to do exactly what you want with 11 as it is now.

You can save yourself a mouse click by opening the context menu using shift+right click

You can also make yourself a keyboard shortcut to open notepad from anywhere. You will have to manually select the save path though as it won't be specific to whatever folder you happen to be working in.
Option 6 here.

I guess it can't be done without writing a program (cause Bandizip seems to be able to add an entry to the new context menu for instant "New Folder").

In the mean time, I found a workaround. I use XMouseButtonControl to set a mouse macro for my middle-click to be Shift+Right-click > W > T (when the active window is explorer.exe), which does exactly like what I wanted.
