Win 11Pro v25H2 build 26200.7171
MS Photo currently (on my PC anyway) any screenshot or picture in the top half of the image with the bottom half blank (see attachment of a screenshot). Previous versions (Win 10, etc) always showed the full picture. I've checked all the settings and can't find any settings related to this issue. Does anybody know what to do? My screen size is 1920x1080.

Try resetting or repair in Settings -Apps -Installed Apps -Microsoft Photos - Advanced Options (three dots).

If that fails try uninstalling/reinstalling.
Open Terminal (Admin) copy and paste Get-AppxPackage *photos* | Remove-AppxPackage and press enter. Reboot and reinstall from Microsoft Store.

Didn't work. It's like it screen prints in a '2 display' mode having what's visible on the display and adding an additional blank screen print on the bottom of that and making it one photo. Tried changing the refresh rate from 144Hz to 60Hz but that didn't help. Could this be caused by the nVidia display driver somehow?

The screenshot you posted is 1,920×1,980 with the bottom 1,920x900 blank. The problem is not in MS Photo, it is in whatever you are using to take your screenshots.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

Maybe your desktop is extended into a 2nd screen. Does your NVIDIA card have multiple outputs, but you're only using one monitor?

It seems that whenever I use print screen, or Ansel in a PC game, my display app has been using the image setting in Paint. I just happened to check the image setting for the above image and Paint had it set to 1920x1920. I reset it to 1920x1080 and images now look like they should. I have never messed with the Paint settings before so they must have been set that way when I migrated to Windows 11, since that was when the problems started. Problem solved for me.

That's weird, but good that you've fixed it now.

I suspect that whatever got mixed up when you migrated to 11 was a 'one-off' and got reset when you changed Paint's size. You can probably now change the MS Paint canvas size without introducing any such problems. I've tried making mine larger than my desktop and cannot reproduce you issue.

When you open a new 'Untitled' instance of Paint, the size will be the last state you left it in.

If you click on File/Image Properties in Paint (you don't have to have a picture open or anything), it will display how you'll see the image. I have attached what my original image property looked like that was giving me the blank area at the bottom of all my screen prints. Changing it from 1920x1920 to 1920x1080 did the trick.
