How do I find my network credentials?

I'm migrating from a Windows 10 PC to a Windows 11 PC. The Win10 PC shows up under Network in File Explorer on the Win11 PC, but both show up there on the Win10 PC. When I click on the WIn11 PC (KLDESKTOP) in File Explorer on the Win10 PC, it asks for my network credentials:



I don't recall having to create these when initializing Win11 (the PC came with it already installed). I access it with a single PIN during bootup. How do I locate them?

Also, why doesn't the Win11 PC appear in File Explorer on itself (as both PCs do on the Win10 PC)? Thanks for any tips.

The network credentials are the Microsoft Account username and password for the destination computer.

If you’re positive you didn’t create a username and password for the destination PC or you are using a local account and didn’t set one up, you can use the following tutorial.


I believe there is a way to connect to a PC with a Pin only, but there are issues for some people on the WWW that are trying to connect to a remote PC that only uses a Pin, using Remote Desktop Connection App or just trying to connect directly via Network.
Turning OFF Windows Hello on the remote PC and logging back into that PC using a Username/Password can solve this for some people.
You can then reactivate Windows Hello and go back to using a Pin, and should then still be able to connect remotely.

A less desirable way could be to tweak the Group policies or the Registry

It’s not really an ideal soloution though.

You can go through the Group Policy rout in the PC you’re trying to connect to (both if connecting from either PC to the other)

Enable insecure guest logons (not recommended):

• Open Group Policy Editor: Press "Windows key + R", type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter.
• Navigate to the setting: Go to "Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Lanman Workstation".
• Enable insecure guest logons: Find "Enable insecure guest logons", select "Enabled", and click "OK".

Or for a Reg edit fix

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters

Right-click on the right in Parameters and create a new DWORD (32-bit) value and name it “AllowInsecureGuestAuth” with a value of 1 and save
