It didn't work for me, after a restart.

Odd. I'm sure that's all I've used in several installs of W11 to get rid of the two-menu system. You're sure you used the
Disable_Show_more_options_context_menu.reg file, and not the
Enable_Show_more_options_context_menu.reg reg file?

Disable gets rid of the native W11-style two-step menus; Enable keeps them.

Hold down the Shift key while you right-click and you'll get the old style menu.

Didn't wotk for me. I haven't futzed with it very much.

Thanks for the shift key reminder, though. That works.

(The extra click never bothered me much. I admit.)

Shouldn't take any futzing at all. If you get the right reg file downloaded, unblock it, double-click it, allow and OK, close File Explorer, reboot or restart explorer (either), open FE, and right-click on any non-exe file, you should see the old, full context menu. If it really didn't work, or only worked on some W11 machines, but not others, there'd be posts in the tutorial discussion to that effect. Oh well. If it doesn't bother you, it ain't gonna bother me (I guess).

That's what I did. I went so far as to restart the PC after adding the reg key.

No idea why it didn't work. I presume that the file was tested before being posted.

Oh, yes. Shawn Brink is a real professional at this game. He wouldn't post a fix that didn't work, and so many visitors hit this site every day looking for his brilliant fixes that we'd have heard a LOT of feedback if something didn't work.

I've had two new (little) ideas:

You were logged in as an administrator when you tried double-clicking the reg file, weren't you?

It would be worth checking your registry (Type reg in the Start Menu Search blank, and run as Admin.) to see that the things we want to be there are as we want them to be:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}

should have a sub-key (yellow folder) InprocServer32, and that sub-key should have nothing in the right-hand panel but (Default) (value not set).

and if there is NO subkey (InprocServer32), that's our hide-and-go-seek problem!

If you copy this line and open the reg editor and past it in the top blank, preceded by Computer\ then hit Enter on the keyboard.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}

so that you see this (below) you should find or not find the InprocServer32 key. If it's there, I'll be surprised.
