All I stated, as well as Bree and glasskuter, is that in dozens, if not hundreds, of collective BIOS flashes, it has never happened to us. Is it a possibility? Sure it is. But to the people that are saying that it WILL happen, every time.....no, it won't happen every time.

Well since you want to go there, Luckily for me, I've got more than just you, glasskutter, Bree, Try3, and this particular thread validating what I've said. I've pretty much got the whole internet on my side, as well as board vendors ;-)

If this thread is about a BIOS reverting to default settings after a flashing: yes, it has happened to me several times when updating the BIOS in Lenovo computers.

In one such a case, the error "No operating system found" appeared. after the flashing. The cause was that the boot disk was MBR, the boot mode was legacy, CSM active, and "Auto", meaning that the computer could boot from either a MBR or GPT disk. But after the flashing, the boot mode reverted to the default "UEFI Only", which couldn´t boot from a MBR disk, only from a GPT one.

You can delete me from your list.

You are wrong to say that Bioses "will" lose all customisations when they get updated.
You are wrong to say that your opinion has been "proven".
No matter how few people have reported experiencing Bioses not losing customisations when they get updated, those experiences demonstrate that the situation is not cut and dried. Different people have different experiences.

To everyone else, I just want to reiterate where my posts on BIOS resets arose from. This statement is simply not true

Even if we gave into the "some BIOS updates don't reset" the above statement is still not true, because it indicates BIOS resets don't occur. They in fact do, as shown and stated throughout the PC community, except for a few members here.

And as noted, it's NOT just my opinion or my fact. Don't believe me research it for yourselves. And yes, in the world of anything can happen, I can't say 100 percent, but 99.9 is a reset. And again, if you've never changed any BIOS setting, there's nothing to "reset"

With that it is time to move on as this is becoming nothing more than a mine is bigger than yours argument.

My ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro WiFi and Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi MoBd systems both always require resetting Bios parameters after a Bios update. ASUS Bios update resets memory speed to 2666 MHZ and resetting Bios DOCP to Profile 1 restores DDR4-3200 MHZ, while the Gigabyte system resets memory speed to 2133 MHZ vice 3000 MHZ after I reset Bios memory setting to Profile 1. Other tweaks have to be redone, like turning off RGB LED lighting, setting Initial Display, etc.
On the ASUS, F-12 does save a Bios screenshot to USB drive. When I go to save and exit the Bios, there is a screen that shows each change I made to the BIOS, which would be a good time to take a screenshot that might serve the original posters question if his PC Bios has similar function.

I'm still working on my Plan B, How do I protect myself and recover from a BIOS update that didn't turn out well? I am at the homeowner level of expertise and am a long time Dell user. The good news is that I think I found a starting point in my quest. Dell has invested in a BIOS recovery process that has a lot of promise. I'll start with the initial doc and see if it does what I want. :unsure:

I'm going to mark this as solved after reviewing the Dell documentation about BIOS recovery and the status of my desktops. That makes more sense for me at my level and mitigates some of the 'bad BIOS load' risk.
