How do I stop 11 from silent installing apps?

We normally leave it turned off because there's no way to turn off the annoying rgb lighing in the front and only turn it on momentarily when we want to print or scan something.

Agreed, the Hp Envy 6000 Series does have that annoying blue tray light. One the the reasons I always read reviews before making a purchase. Perhaps there's a way to disable it in setting, might check the knowledge base for a solution. If all else falls use some black tape.

I use branded HP ink cartridges, I'm aware you can go into the ink cartridge setting and select 'Disable HP Cartridge protection." But, for myself I don't use that much ink.

From my queries, it would seem the Support Agents and “Experts” on the HP forums are the same “Experts” and Moderators that loyter the Microsoft Community threads. They all copy paste then beg or kudos.

In answer to the blue light issue, apparently “Black Sticky Tape” across the light is the best technical support one can get for this printer

Oh no, black tape won't fix this. The entire output slot does the RGB rainbow lighting thing. If I open it and cut the wires to the lights, it'll start tossing error messages, I researched it.

As for ink, nothing but genuine HP cartridges will work which the printer keeps trying to buy online automatically /faceplam

This is why I buy Brother Lasers. I have no time for anything else and I can get compatible refills for sometimes 25% of the official Brother costs and they don’t cause the printer to have a fit and explode.

Yeah, it was all that stuff and I already had the 'ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate' setup in the GP.

It seems like the GP was being ignored at first. The "Notify for download and install" for windows update did finally seem kick in. At least It worked for the last update.

no no, by you i mean when UAC comes up and asks something, it asks yes or no, Now that is asking me, you. whoever is using the pc( the user) a yes or no question, so it does indeed ask, I have it turned off tho so it doesnt

Yeah, cool.
Personally, in my opinion, I don’t think It shouldn’t be doing it though. It isn’t a Microsoft product. They should stop treating people like sheep.
It’s one thing to dictate changes or addons to your own software, I have no problem with Microsoft doing that. But it’s another to assume we want 3rd party software, or assume it is OK to install an installer for us to have to say Yes or No. I think the fact that we can say no, isn’t relevant. It just shouldn’t be taking it upon itself to intrude.

I have always owned HP printers with few exceptions.

I had a financial crunch at one point and had to buy a cheap Samsung Laser-it lasted 4 years then died (motherboard blew).
Because it has been about 11 years since I worked as a contractor doing various things, I contacted my old onsite service tech supervisor who actively did these calls himself and still does and asked him which printer I should purchase for home use.
He replied without hesitation, regardless if it is for home or corporate environment purchase a Brother. He even recommends them over Ricoh and Epson corporate printers (which are pretty good).
So I got this: Brother MFC-L8900CDW

I am NOT locked into the HP ink cartridges which are sold and tremendously high price comparatively.
HP says they do this to protect your printer: bullshit: I purchased exactly 2 refills of HP black and Color Laser Ink cartridges.
Then I decided it was way to pricey and I wasn't locked into using HP ink with a M177FW so I spent the next 9 years purchasing 3rd party ink cartridges and I never once had any issues.
I replaced the fuser twice in that time.
When it came time to replace the drum (11 years old) I said screw it, and bought the Brother in order to avoid being locked into HP and their incredibly, ridiculously high toner cartridge replacement costs.
If they are going to lock people into their subsystem high cost toner cartridges the least they can do is give away the printers. I mean 3-4 cartridge replacements and they've made a profit regardless if they give away the printer or not.
