Both are working OK before installing KB5013943.

How do I stop it from downloading / installing?

Would Winaero Tweaker do the job in W11? I know it works in W10.

Winaero seems to work for Driver Updates from Microsoft, but not for Windows Updates.
At least on Windows 10 or 11... HOME

Also, I seem to remember it broke something else. START button maybe?
But I haven't tried it again... recently.

Why do you need this, anyway? Part of proprietary bloatware. Uninstall this component.

Rather have the Windows system complete and secure.

It looks like you're on Win 11 Pro. I would probably use the Group Policy method shown in either of those links.

Have you tried just rebooting?

I use the free program WAU manager. You can use that program to "hide" those updates.
That will stop them, trying to download.
Then if you ever decide you want them, you can just "unhide" them.

Once an update is hidden, Windows Update will ignore it.

WAU Manager can't stop Windows 11 updates, even when it says it can.
But as I mentioned... you can use it to "hide" updates.

Image1.png

This is how you do it... more or less.

1. Click on Update Windows Now button in lower right.
2. You will then see a list of all the available Windows updates.
3. You can highlight an update and then click the Hide Selected Update, at top right.
4. Rinse and repeat for the other updates.

If that doesn't remove the downloaded updates... just delete the Software Distribution folder...

You got me first. I was about to suggest the Windows Update Show/Hide Tool to hide (block) the annoying update. Despite it says it only works in older Windows 10 versions, it also works in all newer Windows 10 versions, including 21H2 and on Windows 11 21H2. Confirmed it myself.
