curious if this is a bunch of proprietary custom code or if theres a relatively simple means of doing so with file explorer or the registry?
for example, with open shell you could (can) hide them all from showing in the start menu period. with start11 they dont have that option but with some of the styles you can sequester them off into a single uwp applications folder to keep them from being all over the place.

whats the avenue these guys are taking to hide and/or move these things into folders? often the applications are simply gui's to make something you can do manually a little simpler. I like to curate my start menu to a pretty pedantic degree and open shell afforded me the ability to do pretty much everything i wanted to. with the new taskbar giving open-shell problems as its not highly maintained, i resorted to start11. unfortunately that is much less customizable and missing some key things. trying to find out what I can make happen manually and what I cant.

generally I like the windows 11 start menu. what I loathe is the inability to hide or sort UWP apps, and the inability to see subfolders. i need to know what concessions will exist depending on what route I go and to do that I need to know some information surrounding my initial inquiry in the post. if i can find a way to modulate the uwp apps within the native and/or start11's windows 11 themed menu, i'll be well on my way to actually "using" my pc lol.

im beginning to think theres going to be no way to display subfolders but keep the windows 11 menu style so that is one concession i'll have to consider which will result in much reorganization of my folder structure. Wont even consider it if i cant find a way to organize the UWP apps. then i'm back in the "use a non windows 11 start menu" camp.

grumble.

Hi, in your other very closely related post
you seem to have addressed much the same issue.

Best for both you and respondents if you keep to 1 thread on a topic at a time.

In your other post you say
open-shell isnt being maintained and that leaves you with the new start menu
- which is curious, as I've recently had an Open Shell update. Were you thinking of Classic Shell, from which it is derived?
Also note that the next update to Win 11 makes significant changes to the taskbar (drag 'n drop will be brought back e.g.)

No Win 10 style (and I presume Win 11 style) menu supports more deeply nested subfolders as I've posted before on tenforums - and I tried a number. This has always seemed a huge oversight to me; consider people with extensive start menus upgrading from Win 7, say.

I chose the remove them option, on Windows 10 and 11. REVO Uninstaller (free).
These are the only things I kept...

They are easy to recover if you ever need them. One or two commands... and... "they're baaaack".
