A friend mentioned that this test might be more revealing if 10 million primes were calculated, certainly for the really high performance machines out there where such short run times won't trigger any thermal constraints to reign things in.

I tried it on my early i5 Dell laptop and it took around 35 seconds to run the 1 Million calculation and almost 13 minutes for 10 Million.

So this is TEN Million.

Oh wow, thanks.

I think I value my laptop to much to try that one! but I'll certainly pass it on.

On default settings, you should be OK. Most newer computers (say... under 8 years old), will "throttle".
They will purposely slow down if things get too hot.

I just did a test run on my desktop, and temps went up about 20C, on default settings.
Also, if temps start rising too fast, you can always just stop the program.

Hi,
Prime95 is a power virus
Laptops have already poor cooling systems so prime95 would be silly to use on one so kudos for passing on using it

He did try a million, 1 and six zeros
No, at first it was 250000 (that's 25 and four zeros) and now it has been edited with a time for 1000000 instead.....
Still very quick though......

Nothing it was a Dell AIO as factory spec bought at Curry's/Pc World on Wednesday, it had win 10 Home x64 and I did that day after a lot of "fascinating" language install in the end successfully Win 11 pro and on the latest version ending 376.

I make good use of Autorun Organizer and the notification area only has Windows Defender, Cleaner, and IDM running and I go religiously through all the settings tabs and turn most of it off especially the "privacy" Ones.

It boots from the on switch from Dell logo on the bios screen to full useful Win 11 in 5 seconds considering my last computer was a Lenovo T450 which I posted about as I got Win 11pro to run on basically no supporting hardware, TPM or CPU and no secure boot.

I was wondering because we have both have an identical CPU yet yours was a full second faster. I just cleaned mine and defragged it before running it. 9.3 sec was the best I could squeeze outta mine.
