Solved How to backup from D to onedrive (with zip?)

Hi - and thanks for considering such a stupid sounding question :)

I used to sync with onedrive but ended up with a mess of outdated or already deleted versions being synced back from the cloud to my computer.

Now I have stored my files on D and would like to back them up oneway to onedrive.

I am using Acronis but it creates files I cannot open directly on onedrive.

So I am thinking of a backup software that automatically transfers zip files to onedrive.

Is that a good idea - and could you recommend any such software?

Thanks, it's just that I do not wish to sync my harddrive with onedrive because of the problems I have experienced in the past but rather just use onedrive as a one-way backup.

As far as I know, OneDrive doesn't do one way, I believe you would need to buy 3rd party backup software that may be able to do this for you. I did know of a couple but cant recall them off the top of my head.

I believe AOMEI Backupper Standard/Pro does it also.

Thanks again, AOMEI seems to do the same thing as Acronis, that is create backup files in a special format that I cannot easily open from other devices. That's why I am looking for a backup software that creates zip files.

I remember that one of the backup softwares that I used to use, you could change compression rates. Basically no compression rate was bare file. I am surprised something like AOMEI doesn’t have that.

Why overcomplicate things.

Select files to backup in File Explorer, send to a zip file, backup zip file to OneDrive.

Wonderful, that solved my problem! I have stopped using cobian backup because it wasn't being updated anymore but now I have discovered that they have a new product, cobian reflector. Thanks so much :)
