Toggling it to 'Strict' on the IN Private page doesn't stop the feed, as you have learned.

You need to open a normal Edge Homepage, then at top right of page, click on 'Settings' > 'Privacy, search and services' > and set to 'Strict'.

After doing that, close the page, and open 'In Private'. The news feed will not be showing.

It took me to privacy settings, but I suppose I messed up somehow. I had to log into my account to get to this page
Since I dont see search and services, not the right page?

OK, found strict under search history mange search set to strict and the web page closed by itself

I am at a loss now, unfortunately, as how to advise further. I'm sorry.

It works perfectly for me. No News Feeds or Ads, when usining In Private mode.


The only thing I can think of, is that as stated previously, I am running Win 10, not 11. But honestly, that should make no difference when using the same latest Stable version of Edge browser.

All I can do at this point, is wish you luck in finding a solution. Perhaps/hopefully, another member will be able to assist you.

When I open a new tap in edge, bing.com opens. You are showing no bing.com site.
My issue is bing.com, not just a blank new tab. I have EDGE set to open new tabs and go to bing.com

How about seeing if you can get it bing.com to not display news, and also no scroll bars.

I will just give up on bing.com as a new tab page I suppose, then I see this. Search is set to moderate, not strict.

That would be best. The news feed you dislike is an integral part of the Bing web page, with no apparent option to turn it off. Any browser visiting the Bing home page will show it, not just Edge.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

I had it set to bing like forever it seems, so I have gotten very used to it like that, but then I got tired of the constant harping news feeds
