Solved How to get rid of that stupid "b" in the toolbar

It's ugly and an eyesore. Before I disabled the sidebar, I noticed it wasn't in the "App and notification settings" like many of the other app shortcuts that appear in the sidebar. It appeared after the latest Edge update.

How do I get rid of it?

Do you mean Bing AI Chat in the TASKBAR? It disappeared for a lot of people. But you can manually get rid of it.
Click on the Bing AI icon on your taskbar.
In the chat window that appears, click on the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner.
>Select "Settings" from the menu that appears.
>Toggle off the "Show Bing AI on taskbar" option.

You can also disable it in settings.

Open Settings.
Click on Privacy & security.
Under the “Windows permissions” section, click the “Search permissions” setting.
Under the “More settings” section, turn on the “Show Search highlights” toggle switch to disable the Bing Chat AI in search.

There is another way you can remove it if you ae having difficulty removing through settings. Just use regedit to remove it.

All users: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft In the Edge folder DWORD HubsSidebarEnabled value of 0. Restart Edge, it should be gone.

Current user: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft Create an Edge folder, then in the Edge folder DWORD HubsSidebarEnabled value of 0. Restart Edge, it should be gone.

I think it is pretty obvious though what OP means. It would not be so bad if it was more discreet but it is a really "in your face" icon.

So if "features" are added to other browsers, that is ok, but not if to Edge?

To quote the old phrase "one man's trash is another man's treasure"

It is not the adding of such features that is the issue.

It is the "in your face" approach i.e. you have to go though hoops and loops to disable these, stop endless adverts, and worse the blooming things come back - it is digital "whack-a-mole" at times.

You should have to opt-in rather than opt-out but modern marketing............

Games..., Microsoft Rewards..., Alerts and tips..., Web capture..., Web select..., Cite this..., Math Solver..., Pinning Wizard..., Show mini menu..., Sleeping tabs..., Discover..., Collections..., Image Creator..., Browser Essentials tool..., Power Profiles..., on and on and on......, how much more stuff do you need!?

And..., how many times do they have to ask me if I wanna make Edge my default browser, or, if I wanna join Microsoft Rewards!?!?!?
Put a Never Ask Again button in there, for feck sakes!!!

The Unit converter and calculator are handy but you are just a click away from either a favorite URL or an OS app.
So it's just redundant.
And really, have you ever asked yourself when on the net? - 'Gee, I wish I had a math solver in my browser...'
