You can hide it on the sign-in screen
But why not set the whole taskbar to autohide for a really clean interface?

That hasn't worked for a long time.
I guess this is because in Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2 some notification icons are grouped. Download and install Explorer Patcher to ungroup them, then it should work. I used Customizer God to replace the default flat icons of network sound and power with those from Windows 8.1 but my changes were ignored because they were grouped. Once I ungrouped them with Explorer Patcher I could see my customized icons.

I don't think it worked in windows 10 either. If I remember correctly it showed all the notification icons but whatever you selected it was ignored.
Don't use Explorer patcher as no need for it. The only GUI changer I use is IconPackager.

Funny fact: The network icon was hidden by default in Windows 95/98/XP when connected. It was only shown when not connected to indicate that the cable is out. Of course I didn't like that because I wanted to see it blink (indicating that the download proceeded and not frozen), so I made sure it always shows.
