Solved How to Move a Lightroom Profile to a New PC?

I built a new PC and installed Windows 11. However, my user name is different to the old PC (thanks to using local & Microsoft accounts) which means the Lightroom file paths are different - e.g. c:\users\name 1 versus c:\users\name2. How do I transfer my Lightroom profile to the new PC so all works including the file edits in the Catalog?

Are you talking the Lightroom catalog?

If so, open Lightroom, click File, "Open Catalog", locate your catalog files (typically Pictures, Lightroom) and click on the catalog you want. This will open that catalog and everything in it should populate Lightroom.


If need, copy the files to the (a) new location and do the above.

@FreeBooter, that video is not applicable to what the OP is wanting.

And yeah, I'm a Lightroom user. Currently using the subscription-based version, along with Photoshop.

Oddly when I reinstalled LR on the new PC the photos and edits were picked up using the previous Catalog despite the photos being under a different folder tree - probably helped by haing .xmp files stored with the photos. The only thing I had to do was to copy over the presets from the old installation to C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Adobe.
