In some earlier version of Windows, ISTR an option to have Windows prompt for a password when returning from sleep. I can't find that in Windows 11, is it there? (I do have a password enabled for Windows log-on.)

well the the easiest way is to go to settings type in screensaver in the box and choose
turn screensaver on or off and choose "on resume display the logon screen".

Exactly the same way as it was done in Windows 10, set 'require sign in on wake up'.

This will require you to enter the password on waking from sleep, modern standby or hibernation.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

See if this is any good, there are .reg file to enable / disable at the bottom of the page
Well, so far I tried gpedit.msc:

1643922176828.png

and the Enable_wake_password.reg file from the link in @The-Hive's post, but surprisingly (after a few reboots) they didn't work. Now to move on to the other suggestions above. Stay tuned...
