Solved How to revert WinSetView changes?

Hi, this may sound embarrassing, but I just applied what I thought was the recommended settings from this program (I was overwhelmed with how many settings it had, and I didn't want to spend hours learning every bit of it). The changes weren't bad per se, but it made the files much smaller in size, which led me to try and revert what WinSetView has done. I ticked "Reset Views to Windows default", which reverted some of the changes, except the files are still super small. I think it failed to revert everything back.

Edit: I also lost the windows 11 right-click context menu, which I know isn't great, but I don't want it gone.

TL;DR How do I fully revert what WinSetView does after submitting? Thanks in advance.

The two issues you mentioned are "made the files much smaller in size" and "lost the windows 11 right-click context menu". For the first one, do you mean the files and folders are shown closer together vertically in Details view? If so, that's Compact View. Uncheck that. And for the second item, just uncheck "Classic context menu in Windows 11". If I didn't guess right, please show a screenshot of what you mean.

Also note that you can go back to your previous folder views by restoring the automatically created backup by clicking the "Restore" button, but, as stated in the documentation, most of the items in "Explorer Options" page are not included in that backup, so you have to set those options to what you want and hit Submit again.

While we're at it, is there a way to stop windows from automatically grouping files like this?

I know I can un-group them, but windows keep doing this to other folders as well. The reason why I wanted to use WinSetView was specifically to get rid of this problem. And to be clear, I only want this to be changed. Nothing else.

Why not just re-run WinSetView and uncheck those options there?

Again, why not just re-run WinSetView now that you know which options you want?

Because the program is tackling many things at once. I don't know how to perform that in a few clicks without messing things up again. It might be easy to you, but it's not to me.

What would be "messed up"? We already addressed the two items you mentioned and you can always uncheck "Reset Explorer Options" when you click Submit so that you're only setting the folder view defaults.

Note that any of the other techniques still require clearing your existing views in order for the new defaults (i.e. no grouping) to apply everywhere.

You're really better off using WinSetView. Then you're all set to have your preferences applied with one click any time you create a new account, a new build, or a major update or repair reverts views to Windows defaults.
