I use Mailbird as my email program. When I go into Advanced there is something that says "Default email application." There is a check mark in the box that says "Tell me if Mailbird is not the default email client."

Right now it says "Mailbird is not the default email client."

There is a button that says "Set as default."

Problem is when I click the button it brings me into Apps - Default Apps. There are two entries there. One says Mail and the other says Mailbird. I think I got the entry called Mailbird set up correctly. When I click on it, it says Mail to Mailbird.

But when I click on Mail I see MS-UNISTORE-EMAIL. Below that I see OUTLOOKMAIL. When I click on the small box to the right of either one of these, I see a dialog box that says "Select a default app for..." (Select a default app for MS_UNISTORE-EMAIL LINKS).

All Windows will let me do is browse apps in the Microsoft store. There is no Mailbird in the Microsoft Store.

I don't know what I can do. Maybe I gotta just contact Mailbird.

I don't know what I can do.
In Apps > Default apps, type mail into the search box, choose MAILTO...

I did that already. I just don't understand why Mailbird still says it is not the default email client. I sent them a message though. But these companies tech support aren't always that helpful.

Thank You.

Go to this Key in the Registry and change the Default data field to Mailbird...
(Under Clients, if the sub-key Mail doesn't exist, create it)

It already says that in the Registry. May be just an issue with the Mailbird software.

It just sends me to Settings - Apps - Default Apps. Like I was before.

What happens if you right click an item and go to Send to>Mail recipient?

Where are you? Right-click what? Are you in Settings - Apps - Default Apps?

I did get Thunderbird working good though.

No, that's just an image file laying on my Desktop.
I wanted you to right click on something similar and try to send it to a Mail recipient via the right click menu, then tell what happens.

If you're happy with that, your problems are solved.

Thank You. I think I will switch to Thunderbird. It's faster than Mailbird is.

Hi, I know this thread a little old but I suffered the same problem, I did learn to live with the consistent flagging every time I booted system and every time I opened Mailbird and simply replied "no" to switch off the default client flag but it was annoying. My fix was inadvertent, I had my network upgraded recently from copper to fibre FTTP, a new Fibre modem was installed by national broadband (australia) so I ditched my Netcomm NF18acv modem router and replaced it with an eero mesh 7 router.

Guess what? No more fault and no more consistent flagging Mailbird is not the default client when in fact the win 11 registry said it was the default client all along.

Your modem/router could be the problem as it was in my case but I have definitely confirmed that Mailbird and their software was not the problem. As you have shown by your device manager screen shot that Mailbird is the default client then your only prob is to get rid of that troublesome flag. Mailbird support informed me that "less than 10 users have registered this support fault with them" and it is unresolved. I also passed the inadvertent fix solution info on to mailbird. but don't hold your breath on that one.

Hope this at least helps you a bit and you can get rid of that troublesome false positive flag notification.

ps in no way am i married to mailbird except to be a user of their product.
