How to stream videos VLC

Hello, I have several videos in my main PC which I want to watch remotely from another computer. When the remote computer is at home, connected locally at the same router, I can either share the video folder and access it from the other computer, or use VLC to stream it. What about when the remote computer is at another location? How can I configure VLC (or Media Player Classic) to stream it via internet? Please guide me step by step how to stream the video from the host and how to watch it from the other computer. I have AnyDesk access to the host if needed to load the video, but is there any way to create a playlist and choose which video to watch remotely? Thank you in advance.

I still find good old PLEX best tool for streaming from other pcs or tablets/phones (even if on other side of the world) and you can even use your mobile phone as a remote control.

(only worked if it on the same network)
I tried it yesterday, but it worked:

Host:
Open VLC

Click File > Stream

Add your selected video files, you can stream YouTube videos, and you can even stream your PCs Audio/Screen.

Click Stream

Click Next

Add "HTTP", and type on the path: /video.mp4

Click Next

Select your transcoding as H.264 + MP3 (MP4)

Click Next

Click Finish

On your PC that you need to watch the stream, type [YOUR HOST PC IP]:8080/video.mp4. Works even on web browsers. Note that the latency is around 1-3 seconds.

I will add pictures if I had access to my PC.

Maybe port forwarding the IP of the host PC and Configuring it on VLC will work. I will test it later.

A quick look at Plex suggests this is a streaming service like Netflix. Am I at the correct place? How can I configure it to stream my own videos?

I don't know yet because I currently testing it.

I use obs.ninja when I need to stream my PCs Audio through my Bluetooth headphones but my PC doesn't have Bluetooth. Maybe you can try it. It does have access to the internet.

I don't know but I heard about Plex. it is a media server. I will experiment with it if I had time.

No it is not a streaming service like Netflix. It is a media streaming application - you install plex as server and clients.

Well, I installed Plex Server on my main PC and configured my video folder. It looks like what I wanted. It can play most video files, but not movies from DVD folders (VIDEO_TS) or AVCHD folders (BDMV). I can live with that.

If you download the Android app (and probably also the iOS app) to watch the videos on your mobile you can see 1-2 minutes with the free version. You have to register for unlimited watching. If you download the Plex application for Windows (and probably for Mac OS) I didn't see any limit. Also there is no limit if you login at the Stream Movies & TV Shows - Good Movies to Watch with Plex site and watch the videos through your browser. After you login click on your account icon top right and select My watchlist from the drop-down list. This will give you access to your videos. So the workaround to watch the videos on your mobile is to watch through the browser. For this to work you must change the view to Computer, so you see the full site rather than the mobile version. In mobile version you are prompted to download the app, you have no access to your watchlist.

I'm afraid you must register for unlimited watching with the Android app. The workaround is to watch through the browser.

The Windows version is 64-bit only. For any folks still running Windows 32-bit, there is a workaround. You can watch your videos through the browser, provided is rather modern (not IE 8 for example).
