I decided to use the Online version of Office except for Outlook which is now included with Windows 11.

I VERY VERY rarely use the rest of the Office apps for my personal PC and opted to decide to use apps like Word or Excel as the online only option.

So why pay for a plan that I know that I rarely use on my personal machine.

If someone sends me an email with a Word document to sign for example like a contract or something like that, then is there a way to somehow to view it using the online Word or do I need to first download it locally and then launch Word online and select to upload or open that file from my machine?

Don't want to use Libreoffice.

I am on W10, but I don't think that matters: if you drag and drop the word attachment to an open OneDrive folder in your browser, the file will be copied, and you can then click on it to edit. You can do the same with Google Drive. So just keep a tab open at the chosen place - but the tab must be open on screen.

Quite straightforward, just click on the Word document icon and it will open in Online Word.
You can Save As if you wish.

Or Open in Word Desktop app(default), In my case it opens in OpenOffice Writer because that is the default for *.DOCX. I don't have the Desktop MS Word.

All mine are *.DOCX documents, no Forms, so I've not tried those, you can do that test.

I still don't understand.

I do not have a Word app.

How can I open a Word attachment directly from an email and edit it?

Please post some screenshots if possible.
