I have an HP ALL-IN-ONE PC that is having trouble exiting sleep mode once the mouse or keyboard is touched. I have checked the power management settings in Device Manager, and they all look correct as they should to allow the peripheral devices to wake the computer from sleep. But they don't wake it, so I must press the POWER button on the computer. The POWER button shuts it down (I guess you could say manually) and restarts the computer. I don't know if something is crashing when I press the ENTER key or touch the mouse or what.

Thanks for the help ahead!

Make sure you are running the latest bios version from the OEM.

Try these suggestions one at a time, testing sleep/wake after each one.
Go to control panel>power options>make sure balanced (or recommended) power plan is selected. To the right of the plan, select "change plan settings.
In the next screen select "restore default settings for this plan" Save changes and restart. Manually put computer to sleep and try to wake it.

Turn off fast startup.
  1. Control Panel. Select Power Options.
  2. Select Choose what the power buttons do.
  3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  4. UnCheck fast startup
All-in-ones use laptop components so there is a chance the PC is set up to use modern standby rather than S3 sleep. There is also a good chance you can disable modern standby and revert to S3 sleep which we have used for years. Could you please open a command prompt as administrator and type
powercfg -a
Post a screenshot of it so I can see what power options are available on your machine...

Yes, I will do that here shortly. I am pretty sure it's the latest BIOS from HP. I have hibernate disabled, as I don't use it.

@glasskuter, might I also add that fast startup is also disabled, since it has a SSD instead of a HDD.

@glasskuter, so just go by the link to disable modern standby? Or do I follow your instructions or both the link you posted? Or are your instructions the same?

You disabled hibernate but you did not disable modern standby. Did you try Brinks reg file in Option 2 step 3 here. Then restart.
Try that and give me another screenshot.

@zbook

1. Reinstalled the HP software from Intel you provided.
2. I use McAfee from my cellular provider, Verizon. So many say to avoid McAfee, but I have not had any issues with it, as it runs smooth on my computers.
3. Windows was already updated.
4. System restore point done successfully.
