HP Inkjet Printer. Help uninstalling old one and re installing a new one

Lol...you can go the phone route or the PC route...does not matter since your PC has WiFi and BT. You can choose.

@polli One thing you can do is read this thread again, paying special attention to those posts that have given you the most help. By the time you've read it a third time

you should know which posts to disregard and which ones to pay attention to.

On the PC open the HP smart app select Add a new printer and wait to load. I'm assuming your old printer is still there so you can now input the IP address for the new printer for it to continue if it doesn't show up. Follow the instructions. Check Windows Update.

Edit, in Bluetooth & devices -Printers & scanners make the new printer the default and turn off 'Allow Windows to manage my default printer'.

Once you've connected on your mobile it should show in the first screen when you open the app

Just to make it clear the reason I suggest using your mobile first rather than the PC is because the control panel on the printer is rather limited and using your mobile gives you much better control over the printer.

The mobile App was the one that used to work most times after the computer one stopped. So would sooner do it that way if possible.
Just not sure when the printer software downloads?

Printer came at last!
Followed your above post
Connected straightaway to my phone in HP Smart.
I thought it had connected to my pc as it shows up in HP Smart.
But it will not print. Just now a message came upto install a driver. I clicked on it but it just went round and round and nothing happened
Then when I clicked on it again my old HP 2540 printer came up!
Unistalled everything I could find on that printer the day before so dont know why
So I can print frommy phone but not my pc!

PS Just tried again and the printer just threw out all the paper that wa in it, same as the old printer did!
But didnt print.

That suggests to me a Windows problem and not the printer. Make sure the new printer is the default. Mine is HP Smart Printing.

Go to settings -troubleshoot -other trouble-shooters and run the printer one. You can also run the diagnose & fix in the HP app.
Also check if you can open the printer's web page, similar to this,

Forgot to add, check Windows Update.

Set printer as default.
Starting to wonder if the old printer was OK. Now new printer is throwing out all the paper. Instead of printing, the same as that one did. Getting into things I don't understand here now. As I say when I switched the computer on today and opened HP Smart the new printer showed there. But a message said installing a driver. So I thought yippee as never installed a driver myself!
But the it diverted to the old printer still searching...and I thought it wasn't there any more. So switched it off as can't cope with it today

Yes it seems it's a Windows fault and the old printer is ok

Run in CMD (admin) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow to check for errors.

Will try again tomorrow. Its driving me crazy.
The old printer had been acting up for months...now here we go again.
Can't be much surely as it works with my phone.....well it did to earlier
