HP Inkjet Printer. Help uninstalling old one and re installing a new one

I have a HP2450 printer. Its not working well and I would like help uninstalling it.
Do I uninstall everything to do with the printer on Windows 11? PDF etc?

I am buying another HP Inkjet Printer so Need help setting the new one up.
Do I need to use a USB cable?
I want to use it on Windows 11 and also on my Android Tablet.


Windows 11 Version 22H2

I have a Canon MG3200 Printer and unless 'things' have changed here's what you do,

• Make sure your PC/machine is shutdown, and you may want to take pictures of the old HP's connections before you swap it out with the new HP.
• Remove your old HP from its spot and place the new HP where the old one was and connect it to your machine.
• The old and new should have connected with USB that should have come with the new printer. Note the old connection to your machine and replace it with the new one.
• Connect the new power adapter that came with the new HP then plug it into your Household outlet.
• Once your sure the connections are correct and you have the install CD, start your machine.
• 
  
• Your OS should recognize the new HP and ask you if you want to install it and it will ask you if you have a disk, this is where you place the CD into your CD player. Click on OK and let the disk run.
• Watch for any bloatware programs or additional bloatware that it wants to install, I never do.
• Sometime in the beginning of the install it will ask you if you want to overwrite the old HP's files click on Yes or OK, this saves you from going into Explorer and to do it yourself, besides you'd never find them all.
• Once that part is done it'll ask you if you want to install the wi-fi part of the programming, click on Yes or OK, this will allow you to use your Tablet, later you have to point your tablet to the new install so your tablet knows where to send your pictures or files for printing.
• The install is in the home stretch now with tidying up and it may present you with a few questions like; Do you want to create an icon to get into the new HP's folder, I would, and do you want to make an icon and maybe start the Creative program that usually comes with printers. This allows you to create posters, pictures with fancy frames and other stuff. I would.

Once you restart your machine keep a close eye on your display and what the install is showing and asking you, you will have to make decisions. What I've posted is just a general way of doing an install and most assuredly there will be deviations to the process.

If you have problems we'll need make and model #'s of the new HP, maybe screenshots. you might want to discuss the install before you start, a link to the install paper or manual would be greatly appreciated.

Buying HP DeskJet 2820e Wireless All-In-One Printer.​

Just wanted a simple one for occasionally printing.
This one looks OK.
It's just I have had many printers over the years but never uninstallled and installed them myself.
I think the display is quite small similar to my old one.
It will be WiFi not wired to the computer.

I want all the info I can get before I start lol

Does your computer have WiFi and BlueTooth? If not then you have to do an initial setup on your mobile phone using the HP Smart app for mobile, to get the device onto your WiFi network. Once that is done, you should be able to detect the printer on your network using the HP Smart App for Windows, and it should grab the correct drivers for you etc...

It won't be as bad as you think polli as I said I gave the basics, and Slicendice has pointed out one of those 'deviations'.

I have a HP Envy Pro 6400. I have had it for 3 or 4 years now. If you install the associated HP Smart software, adding the new printer is simple. I have mine installed via WiFi only, no wires needed. It just sits in a cabinet and only sees the light of day when I go get my prints. This way it is accessible from all my computers and cell phones. HP offers a monitoring service ($$) that keeps track of your printing and will send you a new cartridge when you need one. If you don't do a lot of printing, like myself, the service is not expensive. I only pay $5 a month and have never had to purchase new cartridges.

Yeah it is simple on a laptop, but if you are on a desktop computer without WiFi/BT, I have the feeling it is a bit more involved...But if you have a smartphone (which most do) it should be fairly simple, just one additional step...

I did not find it more involved with a desktop without WiFi/BT, as long as it is still on the network. One of my computers is a old HP Pavilion (W10, 22H2) that does not have WiFi or BT. It is simply connected to the router with a CAT5 cable. It works just fine.

Same for my HP OfficeJet and HP LaserJet, any computer connected to the Router whether Wired or Wireless/Wi-Fi can have them intalled. I turn off the Wireless features on the printers themselves.

The only real issue I've seen with changing printers is sometimes files or Registry entries get left behind and Windows Update may want to keep offering updates for previously uninstalled machines.

Yes, only HP printer stuff, not things like Microsoft Print to PDF.

1. Uninstall all the previous HP Printer items from Settings > Apps > Installed apps. There will be more than one.

2. Decide whether you want WiFi Direct or WiFi Network.

3. There are basically two methods of installing the new drivers.

a) Downloading the drivers from HP and installing.

b) Online installation using the HP Smart App.

Follow the latest instructions from HP. There are also instructional(Related videos) listed just below the driver downloads, they do tend to be confusing though.

Expect problems, if so just start at 1. until you get it right.

The printer? That's ok yes but the OP wants to use it wirelessly.

My computer has WiFi and Bluetooth. When the printer comes can I put it in the cupboard and set it it up from there or do I have to plug it into the pc with USB to first set it up?

If you have WiFi and BT in your computer, you only have to turn on the printer, grab the Smart app for Windows, install it and follow the instructions. Easy steps 1, 2, 3 ->done. (as long as you read what the app says and choose right options)

It makes no difference whether the computer is connected with Ethernet or WiFi. As long as the computer is connected to your network the setup is all the same.

HP encourages you to use SmartApp but I never use it. I find it annoying so just install the HP basic printer driver. It may not as easy to use as SmartApp but at least I don't have to put up with HP nagging me to buy an ink subscription.

If the Printer is not connected anywhere yet? I doubt that...how the heck will the computer find the printer and configure it to connect to the WiFi router?

I am talking about a true wireless printer setup.
